Well, haven't you been busy. You are out doing yourself. bassbonehas given some sound advice! Peter is right...but don't worry...there are many people out there who should take a leaf out of your book. So chin up and keep trying.

And in the meantime how about you add another two ribbons to your page. Good on ya champ.

thanks for adding my image as your favorite. A fav during voting shows that I am improving on what I submit. And it means a lot to me.

OK, I maybe about to get chastised here but I think it needs saying

I idea of the comments club is excellent and I have enjoyed completing the test for two challenges. From a personal perspecive I found it a tough but illuminating process and I hope that some of my comments have been of use. However, I may now be time to reconsider whether giving ribbons is such a good idea.

I think it is brilliant that some of the younger members of DPC have been particpating in this, but it becomes somehwat puerile and pointless when for one challenge which a member completed the '100%' that EVERY single comment that was left comprised of just two words 'Nice shot'

I struggle to see the value or purpose of this (other than perhaps gaining a ribbon) and perhaps while the concept of the 100% club should continue then the 'reward' shouldnt

OK bracing myself to be shot down in flames and would reiterate that this is just my opinion and I would like to know what others (especially those who have completed the 100% challenge) think of this

Providing useful or at least unique comments on each shot is the goal that I have tried to accomplish with the three challenges that I gave 100% comments. Whether a ribbon is provided or not should not be the point. BUT! I will proudly display mine (and Jon - you should too) because I really feel that I tried to live up to the ideals of commenting on each challenge.

I do agree with Jon that having people collect a bunch of ribbons for nothing yields nothing, but that is someone else's problem.

The point of ribbons for comments seems to be started to encourage comments and I still feel that any comment (including "nice shot" or "it stinks") is better than nothing!

This situation has just been brought to my attention so I must apologize to all the members. I was not aware of this as all the comments I had received from these members were quite different from one to the other.

I will PM the members and hopefully we can rectify the situation. Please keep in mind that with the right guidance members of this age group can be guided to become extremely valuable members, so I would appreciate it if a village burning does not take place. I know what this site is capable of.

Point absolutely and irrevocably taken Judi and I agree wholeheartedly with what you say

Mind you I have no idea what I am now going to do with the 450 pounds of kindling I had purchased in preparation for the firelighting ;-)

If there's a will - there's a way (to be everywhere at once)
If your asking me you have been slacking lately.
I didn't get a comment from you in like 5 challenges.
what's this bullshit about going on holidays - DPC depends on U.

Hahahahaha...you are funny. Actually I looked at it as a family holiday...but in all honesty...my three children had been invited to compete in the North Queensland Disability Games. They came home with over 20 ribbons.

That's why I was away. And I loved every minute of it.

Thanks sweet. They did have a good time. It was good to not be stuck indoors in front of a computer.

BTW...I haven't got time to do all-challenge comments just yet (a few major jobs still waiting for my attention) but I have left both you and Oded some comments on the challenges I didn't get to lately.

I apologize for that.

But anyone else will have to kiss my feet to get their comments..lmao!!

I try to comment on most of my votes with useful comments and at least one constructive criticism. However, until seeing one of the 100% ribbons, I never commented on all of my votes, because there's some images that just didn't inspire any comment from me. Anyway, I recently decided to go for it in a small challenge, to vote on 100%, and to usefully comment on 100%.

Well, I did it! I commented constructively on every image, and at the end of the challenge, it told me that I've voted on 99% of images, and commented on 99%! I had thought that it was because of my own entry not being counted, but I've also discovered that one entry was disqualified before I got to it, so perhaps this was also counted.

Am I still eligible for a 100% ribbon if I voted and commented on everything there, but it was still only 99%? :)

Ignore Oded...he is just being mean. Yes...99% is basically 100% in this regards, because you cannot comment on your own image.

So which challenge was it?
08/05/2007 07:36:21 PM · #200
It was the Paper challenge. I'm not sure how to get my voting stats back after the challenge has ended, so I can't do the cut/paste thing.
