What happened? DQ's again? I didnt really appreciate the DQ-ed winner until I read the comments and understood what I was missing when I looked at thes hot. It's my amateurness that makes me miss the good things about great shots!. Any idea what teh DQ was for?
12/22/2003 12:04:14 AM · #16
The Winner was Disqualified because he could not produce an original file. Proof was requested, and he said he did not keep the original. by the rules, this means that the image is DQed.
The Desert photo was disqualified because it was not a digital image, but a scan of a print.

A real shame, but both completely valid reasons for a DQ.

I admit, I like to know why a ribbon photo gets DQ'd, but I have yet to see one I disagree with.

Real shame about the desert one, wonder if that was an innocent mistake or a calculated risk.

What would cause you all to think it was not digital to begin with? I honestly can't tell on the screen. I can tell with some black and whites, but color it nearly impossible for me unless there is noise vs grain.
So what led people to believe the ribbon winner did not shoot digital?

Good question there JBevins. I would have no idea at all how to tell the difference between a digital photo and a scanned image.

I noticed that he has the "winning" shot on his website here.

The Desert photo was disqualified because it was not a digital image, but a scan of a print.

I thought it looked vaguely familiar to a photo that came with one of my programs as a sample. Must be a popular photo.

maybe if everyone but three get disqualified I could win a ribbon...lol
