nikon lens to eos adapters - DPChallenge Forums

B&H has one for over $200, while ebay prices average around $20.
Hmmm...
Is it not just a chunk of metal? My understanding is that none of them allow the camera to meter properly and thus require manual exposure. I do see some with autofocus confirmation, but aside from that are they not all the same?

Also, while I'm posting, how is "bokeh" pronounced? I do realize that question is totally unrelated.

Canon cameras will auto-meter with any lens, I use a lot of old manual glass with no problems in AV mode.

As for the adapter - if it needs extra glass to allow infinity focusing, that's what you're paying for at B&H.

I agree with bod. I use several nikon based lenses with my Canon and have the cheapo ebay adapter which works great. I typically have to do ec -1 or so on some of the lenses in AV mode for some reason. My adaptor is a simple metal ring, no glass or wiring for focus confirmation. Focus confirmation would be really nice, or a prism focus screen like Haoda or Katseye because it is hard to nail focus with the 350 viewfinder.

I always say "boka" with a hard o so that it rhymes with "rhoda", which is probably not correct :)

So just set it to AV and stop down with the dial on the lens? Sounds easy enough. I expect I'll get an ebay one.

"Bo" as in Bow and Arrow
"Keh" as in... umm... Kevin.

ETA: It's from the Japanese "boke" (ぼけ), so it's phonetic.

Looking around on the internet I think I was wrong...looks like it should be pronounced like a bokeh of flowers....

Heh. I bought my Nikon last Friday primarily so I'd have access to one lens. Now I find out I could use Nikon lenses with Canon cameras. :)

Yes, that is right. Use the apeture ring on the lens to control apeture and shutter speed will automatically be chosen by the camera in AV mode. Or just go all M :)
