As many of you know, in the How'd They Do That area of our Learn section, lots of folks have shared how they created or edited a certain image. We're looking for more of these! For every quality write-up that you do, you can earn $5 to be put towards your DPC membership or used at DPC Prints, so if you've recently had a successful or controversial image, let us know how you did it! Or if you've seen an image you're curious about, PM the photographer and encourage them to write a tutorial. Check out this recent one by simms for a good example.

You can also write tutorials on specific areas of photography, post-processing, how to use equipment, etc.

A few guidelines:

- Please write using your own words and don't just copy from another site, book or magazine.
- Do your best to check your spelling and proofread your text but don't worry if it's not perfect.
- Detailed screenshots are great!
- If you know html, please write your tutorial using that. If not, just write it up your text using a text editor (forum code won't work here).
- Zip your text and images and submit them here.

Let us know if you have any questions or need any help!

Or over 1000 years of membership. Funny, it already feels like you've been here that long.

If there are any of my images someone would like me to write about, just let me know and I would be happy to.

Even though it wasnt my idea my plan in the next few days was to redo this photo and write a "How'd They Do That" on it. Now I am encouraged more.

I was going to do this one as well but I thought Cindi already did one?

Where is Skip. Time to earn some extra money dude.

I was disappointed to see he removed tons of fun tutorials from his profile. Maybe I can sweet talk him into writing them for the site. whistle......Skip.................

I done this photo from your profile.

Maybe you would be willing to rewrite those?

I offered this one to Langdon before, and ended up doing the Model Makeover Tutorial instead.

If it's of any use, and if it's OK with boomtap, have at it. There's a bunch of stuff in my Tutorials / Edits / Fixes folder, though fixing and/or editing seems to have little interest around these parts.

We must be reading different forums. The one I read is about 90% "how do I fix this in Photoshop" and 10% how do I/should I have take(n) this better?

Mine's gonna be 100% "how did I shoot it" because editing it was minimal.

Hey, what are the max. dimensions for tutorial images?
09/30/2007 11:18:00 PM · #17
I have one small question.

I have been thinking of writing a small note about compositions (in general). Since it is a difficult topic to write and since I want to site examples of photos or art work along with points I am talking, I have to link images to the tutorial ( or simply note). I will try to link as much as DPC images. Can I directly link them in tutorial or do I have to follow some route that is to pm the member and ask his/her permission or etc etc.

Any advice.

right now there's no set limit, but i would say 640 is safe. smaller, tighter crops might even be better (depending on the subject of the photo).

If anyone wants to know how I made this photo let me know and I'll submit a tutorial. Materials needed: camera and lens cap. :P

I'm sorry, but isn't that my image that you just cropped and rotated 90 degrees? At least it sure looks like my very distinctive style of photography.

Sorry, but you're both poseurs. charliebaker was doing that, and entering it in challenges, long before either of you. :P

Also check out his all-gray and all-white entries.

At any rate, back on topic, I just sent in a tutorial on doing multi-personality shots.
