I am currently involved in a strange working/living situation at the moment. I left Charlotte, NC and a job I worked for many years to chase a dream and open a business. I've always heard never go into business with your family, and I will testify now that there is a lot of truth in that advice! I had to learn the hard way. The business situation went sour for me in a year's time due to conflicts with one of the business partners (not family, but living with family)! Anyway, I lost money and my relationship with my sister ( which is slowly improving). I have a house in Charlotte which I allowed my 22 year old son to stay in...he pays rent and he and a roomate are experiencing life on their own. When the business failed I was making decisions what I wanted to do again....where I wanted to live and work again. I have a grandmother who is 90 years old, and she was living in an assisted living home. She began to have problems and needed to be moved out of that living arrangement quickly. My family approached me about staying in Salisbury, NC and living with her...taking care of her...and, keeping her out of a full time nursing home environment. My family offered to pay me what I was making when I was working, and all of my living expenses would be taken care of too. I saw it as an opportunity to pay off some bills and save up some money, so I accepted the arrangement. My father comes here every 3 to 4 months and stays with my grandmother and I take a 2 to 3 week vacation away from things...the vacations have been great! Yet, this has turned out to be the hardest thing I've every done...working is easy compared to this! It is very stressful, and I am too house-bound because I can't leave my grandmother alone. Also, my grandmother has suffered some small strokes and she is delusional at times and can be very mean-spirited. She says hurtful things and accuses me of things! I've been here almost a year, and there have been many moments I think about quitting and moving on. I really enjoy this group...I try to fill my time with lots of positive activities, and things I enjoy...and, photography has always been one of them. oh well..I wrote a book...

Wondering where my next move is and trying to talk my daughters into Asia (Japan, Guam, Okinawa, Korea).

My weirdest summer job ever was digging graves for a local cemetary.
