I need to do a bunch of large prints (11x17 on up to 16x24) which will be used as posters. The customer specifically doesn't want a hard backing (the prints have to be bendable), but they need to be studier than a standard print (they will be taken from location to location and need to last for a couple of years).

Any recommendations on places to print sturdy yet flexible posters?

I actually run a print shop as my 9-5 and have a couple things that would work for you. I have a really nice 300g satin photo paper that has a really nice, heavy feel but also rolls well. You could also use a high-end vinyl that rolls extremely well and will last nearly forever with UV ink. If you're interested shoot me a pm with a price range you're looking for and I'll see if I can help you out.

Vinyl sounds interesting. Is it something an Epson 3800 can print on?

I have no idea on the price range yet, I suspect the customer will pay me just about whatever I ask (within reason). So my first task is just to find out what's available and present the options to them.

You can't get the vinyl in cut sheets and the 3800 dosen't have a roll adapter. Besides, you would really chew up the ink that way (if it matters).

Another option would be to use roll canvas with a heavy uv coating. It gives you the roll flexibility and canvas strength.
