Do you know if the woman has a health conditions such as MS that does not allow her to walk? I think you are judging without knowing...

I don't see anything funny or wrong - what do you want to say?
05/25/2007 07:28:42 AM · #4
You got to be out of your minds if you find this normal... or americans :)

Not seeing anything wrong is not the same as finding it normal. Why do you insult all Americans over two posts? Although it was taken in the US, you cannot tell that from the page you linked to - Seattle WA I believe. It does appear to be laziness, but how do we know that after she pushes the kid a few blocks to her daycare, she is not going to then use the Segway to then go the few miles to her work, thus saving gas?

Can you ride a Segway? And if yes, can you then also push a cart in front of you while doing so and not end up on your face in the road? May not be the safest for either the child or her, but isn't that her business?

Why are people so judgmental and quick to insult?

I didn't isult anyone, especially over my TWO posts. On the second post, the smiley indicates a joke. If you take insult from that, I suggest you develop a thicker skin.

Sheeeesh.

Would we be right in assuming that someone could make a derogatory remark regarding you, but a smile would alleviate the pain and make the comment tolerable or even acceptable?... somehow I think not.

This is a good point. you have no idea what her situation is.

why do people worrie so much about what others do, it's her decision to ride, and not really anything to do with any one els, if she is proficient enough to be safe, and not bump into any one, or thing, it's fine, looks fun as well, she may even have insurance cover, you shouldent judge from a single photo.

I just LOVE this comment:

@Jimcord: Your post reminds me of a post on forums.bodybuilding.com. It went like so:

Are you aware that there are people in this world that have a severe medical condition which causes them to be that way? My mother for instance is one of those people. She is a truck driver that has bad knees and a bad back from driving the truck but you probably do not care about that case either. Oh well I am not one of those people I am 6'4" 245lbs and I exercise every day. I would love to see you say something like to my mother in front of me.

That is insane. What if her hand slipped on the storller and she hit the stroller and knocked the baby out?

But, if she does have some sort of medical condition.. She should be towing the baby from behind for safety reasons.

Or she should be using some sort of transportation equipment designed for situations like this.

Nomatter what her case, there are several safer decisions she should have made.

Good points, my friend. The safety of the baby is paramount but it seemed that our friend that started the thread was more worried about the 'exercise' component....

That position must be terrible for her back...

How do we know she didn't just get done excersizing? Or maybe she'll do it later? Then again, there is no excuse for good old walking whenever it's possible.. Unless she does in fact have some leg problem..

hahaha Yeah maybe she is just too lazy to walk and she will stroll that thing and her kid right on in to BK and get a big fat juicy pound of fat burger.

And we wonder why the USA is #1 in obesity. Because we don't walk anymore. We drive to the mailbox at the end of the driveway to get the mail. UGH man you people make me sick...

anyone want to meet me at Wendy's for a #2

Again - as I and other posters have stated already - what if she has a medical condition that prevents her from walking any distance. Some of you are sooooooo quick to judge.

HAHAHA what medical condition could she have that allows her to stand full weight on her legs and not be able to walk??? If she has a condition like you say she would be in a wheel chair with a motor.

And the doctor said that you should ride around on an electric scooter because walking would make your MS worse. Sorry but I just don't believe that.

A variety of heart or lung conditions would fit the bill.

A disability doesn't have to be visually obvious to impair mobility.

That said - my money would be on laziness, but I know that that *may* not be the case.

You are incredible - so someone with a condition that can't get around easily has to use a wheelchair?

Segways are a great option because it puts people at eye level with the rest of the world rather than down low - having to look up.

Show some compassion and get a freakin life...

Look at her again she is bending over and pushing a baby. Does she look like she has MS??? Honestly.

And I do have a "freaking" life. If I have offended you I'm sorry. That was my intentions. And I am sorry about your condition but the "assuming she has..." can go both ways. You're assuming that she has a medical condition that she has to stroll around town on a segway because she has MS. Maybe she is just filthy rich and lazy as hell. Maybe she is borrowing it from a friend. Maybe that's not a kid in the stroller. There are a lot of maybe's so I guess don't assume she has MS becuase you do.

And by the way Peter I never personally attacked you so there is no reason why you should be telling me to get a life.

I guess you have never heard of people with breathing conditions, or myotonic dystrophy, or a myriad of other illness that are not readily discernable but debilitating just the same. How do I know of these you ask... well my spouse suffers some from them, and I can assure you that at the to look at her you would never guess.

The sad truth is that you are quite eager to pass judgement on something you truly know nothing about... you are acting on speculation alone, and that my friend can lead to catastrophic results.

Ponder the possibilities before casting aspersions on the actions of others
