I currently have a Kodak DX3600 2mp digital camera and am looking to upgrade. I am looking a purchasing a Canon Powershot A80 sometime soon. I was just wondering if anybody had any comments or suggestions. Thanks, Jim

My son just bought one for his girl friend for Xmas and they love it.
He lives in San Antonio so I have not yet seen the photos but he says they are great. He gave it to her early because they had some special events coming up and he wanted her to have it to use. They are now looking at buying one for her father.
The software package is real nice from Canon.
I took them to the pro camera shop here in Dallas and they beat any price he found on the internet (I think around #350.) plus gave him free shipping to San Antonio.
If I get more info from him I will share it.

| A friend of mine at work just bought an A80 over the weekend and he seems very satisfied with it. I saw some pics that were printed and they looked great. I think it is a great value in a camera... |

| I've had mine about two and a half weeks and I'm pretty happy (except for having just seen it advertised for 20% less than I paid). The only problem I've had so far is that the autofocus struggles in low light - I think more so than my Olympus, though I haven't tested them in the same conditions. And I do miss the stabiliser and long zoom, but I wanted something small so that I don't have to carry my Olympus around everywhere. I guess nothing is perfect! |

Most of the canon powershot series I have seen are pretty good. They are small and can be used easily like a point and shoot, but also have a lot of the manual functions. I really like the S series, but thats probably just because its what I use ;)

The feature I preferred about the A80 is that you can add on conversion lenses and filters. It all depends what you want to get out of your camera. |

You can add lenses onto the S series, but you have to get an adapter. They are around $40 I think.

Check out Canon Powershot A-Series Users Group for information. There a numerous A60s, A70s and A80s there.

| One thing I forgot to mention yesterday - I came across a magazine a few days ago which rated the A80 as one of their top 10 digital cameras of the year. |
