Since we all know how much DPC improves our photography skills by stretching those creativity muscles and through community discussions and sharing - (I think its even been proven a time or two in the threads and various statistical people) -

*Re-take one of the first three photographs you entered into a DPC challenge. Show off your improvement since your DPC beginnings. If this is your first challenge, then take your best shot and good luck.*

Or something along those lines. Any thoughts? Maybe Advanced Editing?

Sort of, but restrict it to your first three shots. Theres a dozen of my own Id love to re-shoot, but it I always look back at the first few I entered (even after a year of voting and lurking) and think "If only I knew then what I have learned since!". It might be fun to push us into looking at the first few photos we ever posted again. :)

I'd want to redo my Brown ribboner in Wildlife III. I think I make it better, but it's not one my first three.

In fact, my first 3 did great. It went downhill from there.

great idea! I'd love to reshoot quite a few of mine ...

Maybe "reshoot your lowest scoring entry"...

Might be more amusing to see.

I could easily outdo my first shot now but I still don't think it would fare all that well.

I'm with that.

My first entry was my best score to date. Reshoot one of your three lowest entries - that would be fun. And gratifying.

I have some to post...but do we do it here or the other thread posted. I could do my 1st, 4th and 5th...that's close enough - don't ya think?

I was so clueless in the beginning...and probably still am, lol. I'd be up to the challenge.

LOL, I'm in on the updated version. Though I LIKE my lowest shot, as it was (insert sarcastic melodramatic voice here) horribly misunderstood (/end sarcasm and melodrama). :)

Though where I would go about finding me another moose is another story entirely.

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!! not the lowest scoring!! oh no. eeeekkk... Soem things should not be ressurected. I like the the reshooting the first shot idea though.

I haven't really come close to my first entry's score yet. Totally beginner's luck (for my shot, that is).

but you could do your third entry... an evening prayer over that could be better than 4.8 I think.

Do you mean reshoot exactly the same subject, or re-interpret the same challenge topic?

The former really tests improvement in technical skill (or equipment/props) only, while the latter tests one's (hopefully) expanding creative horizons.

That's a good question General I think either would be good. I think leaving it open for interpretation might be better. No one would be able to see the original during voting anyway so it won't change the votes right? It would be interesting to go through the after the challenge is over and see the before and after.

Brown - my first challenge:

Brown - my do-over

I didn't re-shoot, just edit according to some comments and got the size right. Do-over seems to have lost some of the color, but my effort is there...there's only better scores to get by being in the game.

I meant it as the same subject (its why I said the first three, since I know that limiting it to one would make the challenge impossible for many), but I see merrit in re-interpreting the same challenge too. Maybe two separate challenge suggestions then?

my first entry was of some ducks flying away as I approached them. Easy enough to recreate if I can just find the same ducks. lol

Yet another interpretation of Do-Over is to shoot a photo that conveys the same idea as your first entry. So you wouldn't have to find the same ducks, or even ducks at all; maybe you could startle a herd of deer instead! It gives more latitude that shooting the same subject, but is a lot more restrictive than re-interpreting the same challenge topic.
