That is truly sad...father gets his kids taken away because they mooned him and he photographed it. That used to be something of a family heirloom shown to the persons spouse later on in life, now it's child pornography?!? Disgraceful what they do to knowingly innocent people.

You did just reminded me.

My parents had a photo of me naked on a Big Wheel when i was a kid in sun glasses. AFter the divorce it disapeared both parties claimed to not have it.

Well i recently found it now no one has it. Too bad one of the no ones dont realize they actually dont have it.

I believe he said that there existed a photo of him, on a big wheel, in nothing but sunglasses. Both parents denied having the photo. He has since found it, and is calling one of his parents a liar.

At least, that's what I got from it....

And that said picture has been destroyed. (My take on it.)

So Orwellian.

It's amazing to me that a person can have their life utterly ruined because *OTHER* people see something in a photograph they've taken.

Here's the line that really made me shake my head in disgust:
"Here's how a zealous prosecutor could view Sarah M.'s picture: Smoldering eyes; styled, tousled blond tresses; pouty, parted lips; splayed legs; an engorged navel. And that viscous liquid dripping from the wand onto her thigh? Money shot."

WHA?!!? And what the hell is an "engorged navel"?!

If this really is the kind of thinking that law enforcers and prosecutors and judges and such have.. then man, you'd better hide every photo of your child.. nude or *not*.. you've ever taken.

Granted, that seems to be the article writer's take on what a prosecutor would be thinking.. but it's scarily idiotic nonetheless.

Paranoia rules. Bring out the thought-control chips.

It sounds like it is time for a "Nude children " challenge. They can't take us all to jail. Or can they...?

This is really sad to me. Why waste time prosecuting these people when there are REAL criminals out there?

These types of laws are supposed to protect children, not ruin their lives. I'm assuming these cases are the exceptions not the rules. But still... it's sad the power that is given to those in charge who don't seem compitent enough to have it.

And that, sadly, is becoming an understatement. Paranoia has given governments more and more power to take away more and more rights.

And it's become more and more easy to pass legislation (removing rights) just by attaching for the children somewhere in the legislation.

But, we can't blame the governments. They are only acting on mandates from the people. Oh protect us great government.

Anyway, people should start suing the photo labs for privacy violations and then defamation of character and so forth...

I'm shocked this could happen from a legal perspective. Where are the obscenity laws? Why are they not used to help define what is obscene or child pornography? I have yet to see any police report come across my desk that even hints at this sort of "overzealousness" and I don't think a single prosecutor in my office would prosecute such a file.

Aren't you Canadian? Aren't you part of the Red part of the map on the United States of Jesus? (Anyone got that map handy?)

Here, I wouldn't put it past the DA to try to prosecute a family for taking photos of a toddler in a swimsuit at the beach.

I think it's absolutely disgusting.

In the article it mentions a father losing custody of his two daughters because he took a photo of them 'mooning' him, is there absolutely NO common sense in the world?

So if the family was prosecuted for taking the photo (for family album and embarassing the kid when she is a teen), how is it that it is posted on that site, and not prosecuted?

I read a similar account of children being taken away after a clerk at WalMart alerted authorities to suspected child porn that was really pictures taken of the family's little kids running around naked while they were on a camping trip.

The problem is that the people doing the alerting have absolutely NO training, instruction or guidance in these matters, yet they are responsible for making the initial determination to contact the authorities. Once the authorities become involved, the family is put under the microscope and through the wringer, all because some moron at the photo lab makes a decision that they aren't in any way qualified to make.
