yes i know im a whiner and complainer!
I guess my score wasnt thaaat bad (5.7) but what really ticks me off is the 9 1's and 7 3's. I know my image is objective but really if you find an image offensive please don't vote on it just becauseyou dont think its "right"

Here is my image:

I would appreciate comments and suggestions as well!

You mean we're not allowed to have a reaction to the photo? How quaint!

When you enter a challenge, you're presenting a photo to a diverse audience. You can't cherry pick your voters.

Eh...it's just a score. In my opinion, this photo was very well done, and I gave it a 9. Some people are just going to get offended and vote low, just as some will be inspired and vote high. Good job on a very powerful photograph. :)

I'm surprised it scored as well as it did. It seems to me you are trying to stir up controversy.

Well I guess I made it sound harsh. It's kind of like the "friend voting" simply because I put gore in thats an automatic 1. Which isn't really fair. It's not judging the technical aspects or ideas at at all

I'm sorry but that's not why I enter challenges, I don't enter to try and stir up anything, It didn't even dawn on me that it would stir stuff up until after i was completly done my shots and then my girlfriend mentioned it. I enter because I feel I have a good entry, not because I want to stir up controversy

You said in the original post with the picture you expected to get scored low for this. You were right.

Technicals aside, though - the reaction to the photo is just as much a part of the voting. An "eww!" is just as valid as a "wow!" And I've seen plenty of photos that won on inferior technicals because of the "wow". If you're asking people to not vote on the "eww" factor, then you have to ask them to not vote on the "wow" as well. I know I reserve my 1's for photos that are totally tasteless. I scored yours a 6 - it was technically sufficient, but it was an uncomfortable scene and the actual darkness between the photos didn't really seem to take full advantage of the power of a triptych - my favorites used the format much more creatively than simply plunking three related photos into some boxes.

yeah but not a combined total of 21 votes of 1 2 and 3's

I thought it was a great image. I gave it a 9 and added it to my favorites. I mean it's nice to see something other than flowers and happy images, that's kind of what art is....

It's obviously staged. The makeup on the girl is unrealistic. The guy appears to be posing, not in action. The hand washing fails to hit realistic, as the dirt/gore is wrong.

I'm not sure I'd want to see this any more realistic than it is. However, at the stage, the lack of realism took away from the photo.

You also had 1's because the subject is repulsive. It's what happens in a diverse group.

Stop the whining already. The score is what it is because that's what the voters collective / averaged reaction to it was. What the hell do you hope to accomplish by posting these WAAAHHHH threads??

Well your 8, 9, and 10s out numbered your 1-3s.

Probably these people didn't feel it was a true Triptych. Nothing more than that most likely.

As for me personally, while I do get the "story" going on here, it does seem a little disjointed as far as styles. The lighting and "feel" does seem the same in each of the three photos which I think is essential for a true Triptych. I would have given you a 6 in the challenge. Though I really do like the idea!

I'm not mad but I would just like more input if you wouldn't mind. How is the makeup unrealistic?(my girlfriend wants to do this for her career, a more indepth reasoning will help her), and yes I am posing, I didn't want to really dig up public property

What controversy would that be? That he's overexaggerating domestic abuse?

Not so much a bad day, but aggravated and annoyed at the constant stream of threads and posts trying to tell people how they should have voted or commented. If you want more exposure of your image for comments, just ASK for more comments without saying it didn't deserve the score it got - EVERY image gets the score it "deserves".

It is particularly annoying when you knew what would happen when you submitted it.

FWIW, I will take a look at it and give you an honest comment - then you can post a "I can't believe this comment" thread. ;-)

I think you would have scored better with a different title. Like if you invoked a horror movie - and that last panel should be the girl coming back to eat your brains. Yeah.

I agree, I've sent you a PM kind of describing my reason for this thread, I shouldn't have made it a "have sympathy for me" thread but I did.
It would be nice to have a comment from you considering the majority of the ones i have say "ew, or disgusting"

Excuse me? Don't tell me not to vote down because I'm put off by YOUR choice of subject material...

Now see what you've done, Dustin? You awoke a sleeping giant. Keep watch over your brains tonight. :P
