I would certainly appreciate anything that can be done to get the number up to 72. I didn't think I was going to be able to join a team (was on a team prior to sign-ups and left because of my upcoming schedule). Then found out my schedule changed (worse for me, better for my participation in DPL), and I joined the free agent pool. Waited a day or two, read some posts looking for people, but was always just too late. So, I started a team (Team Euro, or the Euro Squadron, or . . . a bunch of people living in Europe, or some such thing), and had it finalized and full in about 24 hours (finalized in about eight, I think).

We finalized as number 54. Why do I mention this?

Because there are 58 finalized and 69 created teams at this moment. If we assume half the existing created unfinished teams will finalize, that gives us 63 teams, 15 of which will be cut. At a minimum, that's 75 people who've pretty much wasted their time in continuing to push for teams following finalization of the 48th team (and it could be as many as 105 if those teams are all full).

Anyway, if there was a clear cut-off (ie, 48 teams but no more), as there was with WPL, I would have saved a bunch of time (yes, I knew all about this when I did it and I have hope we'll make 72; call me naive and optimistic--neither is true, but it's a lot nicer than other stuff I could be called). Others who are thinking about starting a team may be in a similar position, thinking: "Yeah, right, I make the effort, and I don't get in anyway."

Anything that can be done -- automatic team creation, adding people to unfinished teams, etc. -- would be greatly appreciated by those of us otherwise in the lurch, and it might actually encourage some more people to get things going.

Hoping,

Rob

Something else that might be able to help everyone out is being able to see whether a team is full or not. On the page listing all the teams with the logo's it only has the team captain listed and whether or not its finalized but, it doesn't have the rest of the members listed so a free agent couldn't go look at that list and PM the team captain to ask if they could join that team. I know they could go look for a thread for that team to see if its listed in their thread but, wouldn't it be easier for everyone to see the team names listed on that page?

And if the below is done (automatically creating teams at the end) then it might still not be enough to make the next benchmark anyway so filling up the teams not full first would make more sense (however the captain would have to have a say so in that as well).

A total of 73 teams have been created so far, and 66 of those are finalized.

Yipes! It looks like there's a good chance of getting to 73.

Just a note that a new forum section has been created for The DPL. The current Side Challenges and Tournaments section should be kept to old WPL threads, 30 challenges, Team Suck, and other appropriate topics.

If anyone wants me, I just became a free agent.

Also, I'm not really familiar with with this. I skimmed the rules, and didn't see anything, but, if I join a team, do I have to submit to every challenge?

So we are at 67 finalized teams. Do we need to get to 72 finalized teams to avoid turning some away?

Correct...people need to make a team and get it finalized if they want to particapate. I don't think just saying you want to enter when there's just about a day left till this whole thing starts is going to work.

I dont know if this is the right place for it but the announcement in red on the home page says that maintenance will be happening on 10th May and then goes on to say on Sunday. Sunday is 13th May, has it already happened or will it be Sunday?

No chance that the league format could be changed to a cumulative rotisserie style( I'm a fantasy football geek) scoring system?-instead of "Head to Head". This would allow all the teams to participate regardless of the number of teams.

That is not as much fun though. You need an opponent each week to despise. :P

I despise Yanko, but only for the next 5 minutes, since it's the pre-season. I'm saving it up for the regular season.

...and 69 of those are finalized.

We just need three more teams finalized! Two teams are right on the verge of finalization, needing only 1 more team member to accept. The rest of the teams need any where from 2-4 team members to accept.

Go go go!

In other words, 4 people total would do the trick. :)

wasn't there a team created called something like the 11th hour? Did they go away so they could come back in and get themselves finalized at the 11th hour and leave everyone hanging on the edge of their seats until then?

72.

So... we have five on our team and one "formal" invitation hanging (not to mention all the direct PM invitations I made).

Do I withdraw the invite to person #6, or send a formal invite to someone to make person #7?

Does this make sense? :-}

it will also make for lots of entries, minimum 360-504 per challenge just from the DPL competitors if between 5-7 entries per team per challenge

I think they will be bigger at first but remember that not all DPl players are members so they can't enter the member challenge and the two open challenges usually even things out.
