Everything looks ok in the shoulder bag, close the flap loosely, pick it up by the shoulderstrap to move a couple of metres to the next location......

The sickening sound of a lens dropping on the street

Oh oh......

Turns out to be the Canon 50 f/1.4, feeling very light when I pick it up, because half of its lens elements are still on the street. :(((

Worst part is: It's not mine....

It was Anastasia's.......

So here I am, after some strangalation, poisoning and several other assanation attempts, running back all the way to Holland with a crazy couple in hot pursuit in their Alfa Romeo.....

Help me!

Best you change your identity and disappear for a couple of years in some 3rd world country. Good luck!

replace it with another goldfish that looks just like it - she'll never know.

She always knows, even if she pretends she doesn't... she's just biding her time.

I like Azrifel. We can't let Nasti kill him.

You offering to take his place? It's the Mann Code. Take one for the team, Leroy. ;)

Sure, why not? :-)

what were you doing with a Canon lens anyway, Az? you know it doesn't work on your camera anyway.

meh...coulda been worse - I dropped my 70-200 F2.8 VR at a concert the other night. at first all i could see was broken glass, and the filter wouldn't come off so i couldn't see how deep the damage was. Fortunately it turned out to only be the filter and the lens is ok - a $150 mistake instead of a $2500 mistake...whew :)

I tried to put it back together before she noticed, but every photographer hears the tingeling sound of lens elements falling on the ground from miles away. :)

Gentleman that I am I was trying to help out Nasti a bit when we were shooting a model in an old bomb/warhead assembly hall in the middle of nowhere. You know, to make up for the fact that I stepped on her toes earlier that morning. :)

Later today she did let me hold her 5D with her beloved 85mm, so things are good again. She was very eager to feed me some chocolate though and now my tummy feels a bit funny........

That's what Gary and me said, had it been a Nikon it wouldn't have been damaged at all. We both got the international gesture of true friendship after those remarks. :)
Glad yours is ok, the 70-200 is the only lens in my bag that looks bulletproof.
