say you want your photos to be on greeting cards, does anyone know how you would go about that, do you need an agent, who do you submit your pics to? i'm not asking for myself...LOL!

Depends on whether you want to "self publish" or you want to submit your work to a publisher. One popular place for artists is Portal Publications - you can check out their website.

Walmart and I guess any other place with the Kodak center will make greeting cards for you if you dont find anything online. I was looking at Walmart they offer 10 cards for $4.00 or .40 cents a card.
hope this helps

It's actually SO easy to make your own cards! I have done my own for several years and sell them at small upscale gift shops in 3 states.

Hi Linda
I hope you won't mind me asking but
What card do you use and what size do you print them out?
I started to make my cards but with the quality photo paper and the cost of ink I found it very expensive. someone worked it out at $6.50 a sheet I read that by the way
Any cheaper but effective ideas will be helpful
Thanks in advance
Sally

I have been producing my own note cards for three years now. The production cost per card is $1.00 Can. The cards are packaged 6 to a set with envelopes. Cards are printed using a Canon i950 printer on glossy stock. The verso of the paper is a printable matte and I include a brief description of the image. I sell them at bazaars and gift shops in my area.

Hi gbott!
Does your estimate of $1.00 CAN include the card stock, envelopes, and estimate of ink use?

You can also have postcards made of your own prints through DPCPrints. The cost is $1.20 per card (matte or glossy). They are 4" x 6".

I think when you order greeting cards from Ofoto.com, they make a 4x6 print which slips into a slot on the card front, creating a matted print. Double check how big the opening is though, I think the photo part itself is probably quite a bit smaller.

You can probably get such "insert cards" at a decent card, stationery, or photo store; then you can get matte-finish prints through DPC.

Good book to check out for marketing and selling your photography. There's also an artist/graphic design version. Also a couple of writers versions.

Tells you how to submit, where to submit, prices they are willing to pay. Check it out at a book store to see if it's the infomation your looking for.
