Can you say Cinco de Mayo? Should be some great, colorful opportunities out there for anyone who doesn't have a long, fast lens or the desire to shoot sports. |

Was thinking that very same thing, Dennis. Lots of great pics. (Hmm, maybe I should stay out of this one, lol!) |

Nah, go for it. My prediction -- 300+ sports shots, <150 in cultural events. You should have some great opportunities down there in Texas. |

Well, I can't find mention of a single cultural event this week, but the national synchronised swim comp starts today.... |

I would never have equated a sporting event to a cultural event, but I guess "technically" it is. ;-)
I bet they don't score well though. |

lol ... i was referring to the other open challenge this week (sports), which i think will get more entries.
I guess you could submit a sports shot as a cultural event ... who knows, maybe you'd win an oobie. |

I have a question, does it have to be a cultural event or could it be a cultural feature even if it wasn't an event? |

SC had to wait until the snowboard season was basically over to announce a sports challenge, didn't they? |

I'm finding it impossible to think of a shot to enter. Living in a small town of 2000 people with one main industry and noone is doing anything is making it hard. Plus I am stuck at home for the next week. What to do!?
Edit spelling.
By the way is it considered good or bad manners to edit a post and not note the reason like I have just done?

I have a question,
does this cultural event have to be really happening,
or can you stage one?
And are their any restrictions on religious photographs? |

There are no restrictions. The important thing is that your image actually says to the viewer, "This is a cultural event." If the viewers can't see it as a cultural event, then it likely won't work.
Hope this helps. |

Wouldn't a pub or bar or party count as a cultural event as well? Afterall, that's what we do in our culture. What do you guys think? |

He, he, you can try. The "event" part might fit, I'm not so sure about the "cultural". :) |

Is Holy Communion cultural or just religious? |

I would think of it as just religious. I don't know how others might see it. |
