Its middle of April and we decided to have a beautiful white day in upstate NY when its supposed to be blooming!

All these beautiful sights were just too tempting for me to drive straight to work. So I decided to pull over at safe spots and capture some memorable shots. I saw this beautiful green church and a huge parking lot on the side. Quickly took some pictures and jumped back in the car. I check to my right to make sure no cars were coming as I was pulling out of the parking lot, I notice a beautiful red house as the road curved in front of it, just what I wanted, so I put on the reverse gear and move the car a little back.

Lets leave the car running, I won't be gone long. Stepping outside I slide, I balance myself by holding on to the door and as I close the door I realize that I had just locked it while trying to balance. Within that moment as the door latched, I realize the keys are in the ignition! Dang! I am locked out, in this snow, with my camera in hand, no camera bag, no gloves, no cap, no snow-shoes, and a thin jacket to protect from the cold!

Luckily my phone was still with me and I keep a spare key in my desk drawer. Called Dave at work and asked him to rescue me. Good thing was, I got the shot I wanted while waiting 30min in the frigid cold and my camera survived .. well it wasn't that cold so no frost bites either :)

Vikas!!!! That's a horrible story! But you have just provided living proof that the best things in life don't come easy and are worth the effort because these photos are AWESOME!!!!

Sorry you had to go thru so much to get them, but they will be treasured as great pictures in your portfolio for ever. The pain was only 30+ minutes, right? :)

Thanks!!

Thanks fall_leafp5 and SandyP!

Yeah the pain wasn't long, I had fun seeing people crossing in their cars as they turned around and wondered what that car is doing on the side of the road with its headlights on, half of them were probably thinking here is someone who will have a dead battery soon :)

Vikas those are great shots - and at least you had a back-up plan (an extra set of keys and someone who could get to you in a relatively short time).

I like the one with the green church. The green of the building really pops of the page especially against that white snow. Another reason why I like that one most is because green is not a color one would expect to see in the height of winter and all the snow lying around. Tis almost like a reminder that spring will come.
