I could be wrong but I believe 640 x 427 should be the size for an uncropped image at maximum allowable size. |
4/3rds crop is 640 by 480 |
Then there will be a few DQ's in this one. |

Doesn't a dslr shoot a different ratio than p&s? I know nothing when it comes to numbers like this, but I seem to remember seeing that in a thread. I know mine is 640/480, but I also see 640/427's in the entries.

Me too, but I don't especially love folks who leave you a cheerful comment then score you a three :( |

Slightly drop and hope the score creeping up.
I notice lots of awesome insect shots in the challenge
especially it's minimal editing which is rather difficult.

And now you've already got three! :) That's wonderful, but yeah, nothing beats that very first one :)
Hope the voters love this one as much as you do! |

Yup, my p/s has a natural 640x480 aspect ratio.

About valid aspect ratios for the entries to this challenge...
Same cameras shoot at 4/3 aspect ratio (640x480 px), and some do it at 3/2 (640x427 px), both are OK. I do not konw if there is any camera that shoots anything diferent than 4/3 and 3/2, but as long as the aspect ratio of your original jpeg file is identical to the submitted image it shoould be ok too.
My Nikon D200 shoots 3/2 which is OK for some compositions but in most of the cases it has to be cropped. Unfortunately minimal editing rules do not allow it :-(. I `will try to find out if the D200 could be set to shoot 4/3 for the next minimal editing challenge.

What is the proper procedure if you suspect that a photo does not meet the editing requirements set for the challenge? Is there a committee that goes through all entries or do they depend on members to bring it to their attention. |

Under the comment box on the photo there is a link, "click here if you suspect a rules violation"....click on that and fill in your reason.

First time entering a minimal editing challenge. Ouch! It looks like I have some work to do. I haven't had this low of score in a few challenges. Even though I knew it wasn't going to do good the score still stings. Oh well. I still have my free study to look forward to. |

Some pretty nice entries - good job folks. I pulled my entry at the last minute because the bug was too big and the inverted 50mm made the DOF too shallow and made it look a little off - didn't want my image to get pounded. Good luck on the scores! |
