WHERE: Rickett's Glen State Park ("Trailhead Parking")
WHEN: May 6th - 10:00am

With the April 15th GTG looking to be rained out for many. And many still interested. Figure we'll give it another go. I made the suggestion of a barbecue as I think that'd be a lot of fun. And I think better for those with large families than going out to eat.

So I thought I would organize food for the GTG:

MENU:
- Burger Patties [Saj] (I can pick both of these up from CostCo)
- Hot Dogs [Saj]
- Buns (Hot Dog & Hamburg) [alanfreed]
- Grill [???] (gas or charcoal, may have to check Ricketts regulations)
- Soda [Stiger](4-5 2Liters)
- Chips [OdysseyF22]
- Side Dishes (potato salad, macaroni & cheese, pasta salad, etc - add your name and dish)
- Condiments (mustard, ketchup, relish) [Spyder]
- Napkins [OdysseyF22]
- Plastic forks/spoons [bs-photos]
- Big garbage bags [OdysseyF22]
- Something [alanfreed]

ATTENDEES:

+5-8 friends, family, etc

PS - feel free to PM with what you want to bring and I'll add it to the list. If I missed anything, just let me know. Food is good!!!!

I'm in. I will talk to the wife about making something. She makes an awesome Brocolli Salad. I am unsure if she will want to go or not. (She's a member here also, as well as my 9 year old daughter.)

Added: Scalvert: I vote that you bring a couple of dozen jelly donughts from Francis' Bakery. (I'll give you the money for them, as long as your transport them here.)

The picnic sounds like a great idea. I'm in for 4 or 5 bottles of soda.

They have sugar and powdered sugar varieties... got a preference? My niece's confirmation is May 6th in D.C., so uh... I'm in. ;-)

Powdered Sugar, of course!

I'll be there and I'll bring something :)

You'll probably drive right by my house...

I'm most likely in.

I'll be in & will bring something, possibly talk my dad rider into coming. Just an idea, on top of Red Rock (aka: Rickett's Glen) there's Lake Jean, most likely not too busy for May 6th, but they have picnic tables & the little charcoal grill things setup already. There are also picnic tables along RT 118 in the parking area, so just a thought! :)

This is just a thought, maybe I should ask Langdon about this first? But we make shirts here at our graphics shop & I had thought about making myself some type of DPC GTG shirt to wear for the Rickett's GTG... would anybody else be interested in shirts? Just an idea, wasn't sure where to post or who to ask....

Can't hurt to ask him. I've got a DPC t-shirt from a D.C. GTG that Langdon attended.

Edit- Asked and approved, as long as we don't use the DPC logo. ;-)

Question, would it be okay if we used the blue ribbon on say a pillow case or print-out to put on a pole so that people know where to gather?

Judging from past GTGs, I doubt it will be necessary. We'll have cell phone numbers, and DPCers do tend to stand out. ;-)

Stand is of course a relevant term... Kinda crouched and stooped due to being laden down with equipment provides a better visual image for me.

Posture is irrelevant. Look for a group of people with big cameras, rubber duckies and woodies. That can ONLY be DPCers.

Should I bring my infamous rubber ducky collection along?

*ponders*

(just a few of my many duckies)

LOL

Yeah, I've been to a couple GTGs where we were about as subtle and unnoticeable as a water buffalo at a wedding reception.

Buns, condiments, sporks, and grill.

Okay, anyone up for bringing buns? (bread kind, not the fleshy kind).

Plasticware? If anyone has this let me know. Otherwise I can look at picking up a box of plastic from Costco.

Condiments...???

And of course we're open to numerous side dishes. Be it home made fried chicken to pasta salad to hummas and pita chips. :)

How about a grill? Nice bowl shaped Weber perhaps? (There may be grills at the park. In which case we'd need only charcoal. Does anyone know?)

[Oh, just a thought, I am not sure if any are attending who are vegetarians. If you are, it might be prudent to bring some veggie burgers with you.]

hmmm...anything else I am forgetting?

Count me in for buns and a side dish.
04/17/2007 04:34:16 PM · #20
Count me in, and put me down for all of the condiments.

I can bring something too but I would rather chip in few $. I fact maybe we should have 3-4 people organize food and rest just put some money in. Kindda like DC night tour 2 years ago.

I'm afraid I'm going to miss this after all. I have to be in Seattle that weekend for a conference. Have an extra burger for me!
04/17/2007 05:24:27 PM · #23
I'll pick up plasticware!
I know up at Lake Jean there's the charcoal grills setup, not sure about around the parking area, if I get a chance I'll run up & check it out.

Donations are fine Nikolai and will be graciously accepted.

I'd vote for moving up to Lake Jean for the picnic - it sounds like a much nicer setting than near a parking area on the edge of a road :-)
