I lost my File Edit View toolbar at the top and can't access anything and I'm in a rush! Can't even save my work! Stupid, I never learned that shortcut and now I pressed it by mistake and don't know how to undo this. Thanks
Nathalie

I think it should be as easy as pressing "F". Maby a few times.

There isn't a default key stroke to do it - but hit 'tab'

you should see the tool bar. One of the icons at the bottom selects view mode (3 side by side), or 'F' works too (Edit!)

Ctrl-S is the keyboard shortcut to save your work... I'm trying to figure out how the main toolbar is missing now... do you have a mac or PC? And which version of PS?

If you're on a PC or a Mac running Windows, disregard this (I wouldn't have a clue). If you're on a Mac with OS X, read on.

The second you click anywhere outside of a Photoshop window, bang, you're in the Finder and the Finder toolbar replaces the Photoshop one. Mouse to Photoshop in the Dock, click and, bang, you're back in Photoshop, toolbar and all.

If you're in OS 9, go the Finder icon (the Finder will be selected in the pop-up menu) and select Photoshop.
Voila.

Telling someone who's new to Photoshop which keys to press is akin to giving a man a fish. In the interest of teaching fishing, I offer a slightly more detailed explanation of what's going on. Sushi for everyone.

Pressing Tab hides or shows your toolbox and palettes. Pressing the letter F by itself cycles you through three preview modes: regular windowed view, the photo on a gray background, and the photo on a black background.

If you use Tab to hide your palettes and tools AND use F to get your photo on a gray background, you have an excellent preview of how your image will actually look on the DPC webpage. Sometimes I find that extremely helpful.

Many images that look too busy in windowed view or very striking on the black background lose or gain interest or contrast when viewed on DPC. The gray background preview mode allows me to predict and compensate for that. I use it tons.
