Yes my original post was "LOL" so what! While I was changing it you just happen to respond to it. You can sit there and get mad or do whatever it is you do but the reason you don't have a catagory yet is because you can place your "work/art" in other catagories. Get over it.

Andrew, I'm not crazy about horror photos, but I absolutely think a separate gallery, maybe named "Grotesque", is in order. This would cover horror and make room for more.

It might be that such a gallery would require protection the way that the nude gallery does. I suggest that the infamous "pooping horse" photo could go here, too. Not to mention the more recent naked monkey photo.

you could name it Macabre

It sounds less horrific than Horror

Now this is a Personal Attack, you insult my Intelligence and tell me to just 'get over it'.

I really do not understand what your reason for even partaking in this thread is, unless your intent from the get go is to be knowingly heinous towards my request.

Its funny, there are so many people who think that by not allowing the gallery, you don't allow the images, yet as you so kindly put it, there are other places to put them, that are completely visible and accessible for everyone.

So, did you look through the examples? Do you not think they should have their own Gallery? A mature content gallery like Nude, were as people can choose to view or not view? That is the bottom line of the gallery. I understand there are people who don't like them. I understand a lot of these types of images have been found NSFW on numerous other websites and workplaces. I understand there is a need. Why doesn't the site?
Why don't you see this need as well?

@ citymars, grotesque will not work. that is a bias name for the images and I take offense in it because there are several images that are not grotesque but are horror/macabre category. As for the horse image you talk about, personally I don't even think that should be allowed on the website. That is pushing the limit too far in my opinion.

@JulietNN Macabre does sound less horrific, but the funny thing is, is Macabre is about death. To me, that is more horrifying then straight horror. Horror isn't all just 'hack and slash' like most recent hollywood movie trends. Its about the hair on the back of your neck standing on end, its about the things that go bump in the night, it is about what scares you. Now, a Horror/Macabre would work but not Macabre alone I don't think.

I'm sorry, I just thought of the word and thought it was perfect then Wikipiedied it and I thought that it fitted all the throughts on this thread for horror and death.

Macabre is a term applied to a type of artistic or literary works, characterized by a grim or ghastly atmosphere. In these works, there is an emphasis on the details and symbols of death. Macabre themes are often preoccupations in the Goth subculture. Themes are usually deliberate.

sorry if I got the context wrong

I perhaps have a different context of mind. I want to elaborate on what I made bold in your statement above.

Macabre is about death. Artistic yes, but the constant is death. Horror is not always about death, it is also about life. Take Frankenstein's Monster, a true Gothic Horror story. It is not about a monster on a rampage but about a creator and his creation. To love and be loved in return. The Hideous with the Beautiful. Horror is not always about death, it is about what scares us most.

Goth subculture, I really didn't want to get started on this. This 'subculture' has absolutely no idea of anything dealing with the true meaning of Gothic. They cut and mangled it into a meaningless goth which is only stereotypically labeled as those pale skinned darked haired black cloth wearing freaks. Is there anything wrong with it? Only that it was born out of ignorance and many have no idea what it should mean. One of the main reasons emo's came around, because the goths were still being ignored.

Anyway, this post has been brought to you by Personal Opinion.

Macabre alone can not be for the broader spectrum of images on the site. It has its place yes, though as a single gallery here, I do not think it would find much activity.

That photography with people eating blood should be checked for problems. I think there is a very fine line between art and psycodic.

is that the same fine line, that seperates artistic nudes from pornography?
you know what i think the photos you're referring to can be well defined as art, of course that lies in the eye of the beholder, but maybe you "should be checked" for some kind of ability to broaden your horizon of what exists beyond the world of smiling faces and beautiful landscapes...

eta:oh well, i just checked your portfolio and i gotta say, you DO have some nice stuff that even tends to have some "horror"-tendency, so tell me why are you making such a big deal about having a seperate horror gallery?

[i]but maybe you "should be checked" for some kind of ability to broaden your horizon of what exists beyond the world of smiling faces and beautiful landscapes... [i] Yeah me and about a million other people. It's not the small amount of people that like this type of photography it's all the rest that have the problem right?

Look for all of you that want the gallery ask for it again. If you get it you get it. If not just put your pictures in another gallery and get one with it. I don't know why anyone is mad at me because I asked for a gallery and I got it. I think I had better ground to stand on then a "horror gallery" but that isn't up to me now is it. You all are preaching to the choir. Turn your anger/frustration/horror to SC and ask again.

I think Andrews photos are are no worse than some horror movies I have seen in the past--
If this was "real" then yes, the authorities would have him in jail, lol..
The only problem I have with posting these at this point is that I now know who took a photo in the current challenge being voted on..
Its straight from this series of shots, just not posted, but clearly identifiable..

Edit-- Upon further review of above said photo in challenge, I may be wrong-- The theme is the there, but the style of photo is (processing) is vastly different, So I apologize, I don't have the facts to back up my statement, I could be totally wrong..

To tell the truth I have absolutely no idea you asked for a gallery or what gallery or anything of that nature. What I dislike about your presence in this thread is that you have done nothing but cause trouble. You offer no relevance to the discussion/suggestion.

If your only idea is to put stuff in other galleries than that really demonstrates your immaturity and complete lack knowledge of the arts... IN MY OPINION It is also completely disrespectful to the artists in the Genre. So now, do me a favor, tell me the gallery you suggest, so I can go give you the same treatment you gave me.

that's what i was thinking, too. and also the reason why i actually responded, not because i'm really enthusiastic about having that horror gallery but because i thought dirt's arguments were totally pointless and unfair.

and don't worry he already got what he wanted, a maturnaty gallery (btw i think that's a great addition to the galleries).

I am amazed at this. So many people freak out over seeing even a hint of nipple or other "naughty" skin, yet material like this is allowed to float around without any warning whatsoever.

I detest photos like that, and worry about the creator of them, too.

Please please please protect me and others from..... ummm... such material.

By the way, I am not calling anybody anything, I am simply explaining that I find this stuff disturbing.
No need to delete my post or lock the thread.

I kinda surprised at the response to all this, I grew up on fangoria magazine, I love horror movies, I especially love when AMC does horrorfest during Halloween, these images to me, arent any different then one would see if you went to blockbuster and renting some horror movies, Not all but some..
