Wow Jon, they look great! It would be really good to apply that filter on the originals. Is that a CS exclusive filter or is there an older equivilent?

I really like that harbour shot too. If you cloned out the diesel signs then it would be even better. It looks so serene and even the houses look like they're floating :)

edit: typos galore!

I LOVE the night time shots!

Thanks to everyone that posted shots after me. You did what I was hopin' for! You made me appreciate how much I need another camera even more! (I'm workin' on getting something new by Christmas at the latest!!!) Oh yeah and some of you made me jealous that I'm stuck in mid Michigan!

Sorry Ben - CS only for the moment. Worth the upgrade just for that though! ; )

Wow! These night shots are incredible. I need to get out to shoot more at night. Here are some of my outakes from the Infinite challenge, which is the last time I took any photos at night.

Fun topic, so I uploaded another one. I am very interested in any comments on this. This is a dark shot, but I think it conveys what I was seeing and the beauty of cruising the inside passage at night.

Cresent Moon at Sunset

That's really my only decent "night" picture. I tend to avoid nighttime shots, although I'm hoping to try for some more soon.

For the times Sq shot, I used my G2. I set it on custom white balance, and manually worked out the exposure I wanted (so that the colour and exposure is the same frame to frame - makes life much easier stitching them back together later)

Then you just stand in one spot and spin around - trying to get about 1/3rd overlap between frames to make the stitching easier.

I use panotools/ PTGui to stich them together, outputing a layered photoshop file with masks. I then spend some time editing them masks to better line stuff up - particularly in the Times Sq case, picking and choosing cars from different frames to try and look seamless.

That's about it. For most of my night shots I seem to typically consume about half to one bottle of wine before hand too, so it can't be very difficult to get right...

I would have to say that these two are my favorite.

This one was submitted to the challenge upside down. It through people off.

I've always loved going outside at night when there is snow on the ground. Here's one I took last February.

Hope you like it. Comments welcome.

Night shot of a car, with flash

For the above pic, I used the flash, then about a 1 second exposure to get the effect of a phantom vehicle over a long exposure, or phantom streaks of light coming from it, whichever you prefer. I did touch it up in photoshop, but only to clone out the noise and the guy's face. I can upload the original, if anyone wants.
