Perhaps DPC should offer him a lifetime membership or some other such consideration for his efforts and for developing what will surely become an integral part of this site's future. I hope I am not out of line, but I just think he deserves some special recognition for this.

Eh they should allow him a voluntary administrative position over the WPL integration. That way he can still kind of help run thigns but can kind of just have his personal time!

- Scott will continue to operate WPL through the conclusion of the 4th season.
- DPC will assist Scott by providing data if required.
- DPC will integrate the WPL as a site feature, starting with season five.
- We will work directly with Scott during the remainder of season four and in the "gap" between seasons four and five to implement the change

We feel that the WPL has become a great addition to DPC, and would like to publicly express our gratitude to Scott and to all those who have assisted him with the WPL, for making it the tremendous success that it is. It's one more example of the great community that we have here.

Here's to many more fun and successful WPL seasons!

It would be nice to have somewhere, a brief history and overview of what the WPL is.

I would like to thank DPChallenge.com; it's admins and the SC for integrating the WPL into this site. I feel countless users have had fun with the WPL and by having run under the direction of DPChallenge.com it will be even better.

Here’s to a great community of people
Thanks,
Scott

This new anouncement is great to hear

I was just trying to keep WPL going. I was not at all trying to take Scott's "baby" project. I hope that's not what he thinks. I am also not interested in doing it for money. If anything at all was to be made it should all go to Scott and his family. I've told him all this. I really wish him to get better healthwise.

I can actually collect any information directly from user's profiles, totally automated by some software I write. The earlier thread today was just someones' suggestion. I thought it would be a good backup and something to show to keep WPL alive and appease it's members, "temporarily", as stated in it's title.

Understandingly, Kirkbic has locked that thread that I was collecting scores form each team. If Scott or anyone would like to try my software this Saturday, it will be free and available.

Southern Gentleman and TomFoolery started the WPL which stands for World Photography League. It is a league made of teams with 7 members each. Each week teams play against each other based on the scores people get in the challenges. The top 4 scores of each team (1 per member) get averaged out to form the team "score" for the week. Last season it ran for 5 weeks plus playoffs. We are currently in season 4 which started with the Good/Bad/Personification challenges. These are the final results from the three seasons prior:

WPL1 Champion: Team Pentax
WPL2 Champion: Underexposed
WPL3 Champion: Outcasts

Does that help?

Great move. WPL is a great attribute to DPC. Scott, you have created something awesome and I think your work is well-appreciated by MANY DPCers. Big kudos to you and kudos to DPC for adopting it into the site.

This certainly is GREAT news! I was hoping the solution might end up going down this path as it does make sense to continue the fine efforts of Scott ( Southern Gentleman) and Clint ( TomFoolery) under the DPChallenge umbrella.

Outstanding!

I just wanted to pop in and say lets don’t forget TomFoolery. He suggested the idea at the same time I was making up a database, we just had the same idea at the same time. Even though Clint’s name has not been in the forefront much he has helped behind the scenes. Don't forget to drop a thank you to him as well.

Thanks,
Scott

ETA: fix word error ( Do should have been Don't) sorry!

I don't think that at all. I thank you for offering your time, talent, and site to keep the WPL going.

Okay... here comes a stupid question. What is the web address of this WPL site?

edit:
Never mind... I found it.

Oh snap! I guess this means I have to go out and get something for the Streets challenge? :-/

What a wonderful thing this is! Hats off to Langdon, Drew and the Site Council for taking this on. And a BIG round of applause for Scott for all his creativeness and compassion starting it all up. Also Tom Foolery as well. Bravo!
