Le me know and I'll post the thumb.

Forum and site rules say you have to wait until after the challenge or it falls under showing outtakes during a challenge which is a no no. :)

Didn't enter. Not trying to be a bad apple. YIKES. (Hiding under the bed until the challenge is over.) Even though I didn't enter...I guess it's considered an outtake?? Ok.

And no comments.

On that note I'm going to bed.

I'm having quite a hard time in voting for the music challenge: while 99% show music happening in the images, there seem to be categories of images:

1. some excellent ones that speak clearly of school/students in the music world (both electronic listening or physically playing an instrument)

2.the still life pictures of instruments with sheets of music that are fairly convincingly within a "learning" environment

3. nostalgic images of old battered instruments showing "once upon a time" use

4. Still Life shots of instruments that would work well in a catelogue, but don't say anything about "school"

5. Still Life shots of instruments that are poorly executed/candids

6. a very small handful that just speak nothing really about school or learning, that are just of people playing instruments

Very difficult to settle what I'm looking for in a good photo for this challenge.

Sorry I was really trying not to be rude, I did put a smiley face :). I didn't mean to be short with you at all I was trying to do the opposite and just let you know. All apologies if I came across as mean, my intent was more of a FYI kind of thing. :)<--trying to play nice :)

faery...
I know this has been discussed to death in other threads..but the "School Days" part of the challenge is merely a cute way of introducing general topics that can be found in school, that is why the descriptions were changed to avoid this exact confusion...
It doesn't mean that it necessarily has to do with school, but more with biology or music.

I know there was all that discussion about the topic...but for one, if any changes were made after the topic was released it really impacted on those guys that submitted photos on the first day. Even with the description out of the topic, the topic still includes the words "School Days"...so I'm just wondering what the voters who don't read the forums will be thinking... that's all. It's like saying "The topic is 'Black and White Portrait' but the 'Black and White' part is just a way of inviting some classical looking portraits, so don't get too hung up about that aspect..."

Anyway, that being said this is a scores thread:

disappointingly :-(

Nonetheless I think I've been hit by a few DNMC votes because of this. Would have been better if D&L had scrapped the 'School Days' part when they scrapped the description.

I think my Update botton is bust - no change for over an hour. Only 12 votes in the first 3 hours.

I lost a lot of detail in the processing and I wish I hadn't done the composition that way... I am never going to submit pics I don't like..

It is not the best picture an the focus could be a bit better, but I though it would be better than a 4.6!

Again, zero comments on 18 (fairly low) votes.
This is only my 4th submission - I think I'll give up submitting...

Wow did I get this one wrong!!! It's got clarity, it's got adequate processing, it's got the school child in it, it's got instruments, it's got music happening.....and it's got 4.9!!!

VERY disheartened.

I know what you mean, I thought I had the perfect shot and woke up to a 4.9. It's early though so I still have hope!

But they didn't scrap the "School Days" part - so we had to work with that in the challenge topic and it seems as if 80% of the entries disregarded that...as I said before, in a "Black and White Portraits" challenge we don't disregard the "Black and White" part or take it to mean a general guideline on the kind of portrait we're taking...? Just a bit cross and sulky at the moment - but personally as I've been voting I have not marked down those that don't fit MY idea of the challenge - just voting now on what comes across as a great picture. Up to 40% of the voting done...

Why is it the shots I think will do well don't and those that I think will just be average do better? (not that I am complaining about this score!!)

It means "Does Not Meet Challenge" people will vote lower if they think your entry doesn't meet the challenge description.
