Now what a wonderful key. I could have used that key, but damn if I could only find it. Maybe it's a Macintosh thing.

Perhaps it's one of the fabled "Easter Eggs."

Zeus do the Mac's have a key called "any key"? I often get prompted to push that one :-)

Hey, the diversion is working! ;-)

Well.. all I can say is that I currently have 8 comments on my still life shot and his comment is the most insightful one I've had in a while on DPC. :-)

welcome aboard!

I've heard of people calling customer service asking the exact same thing. I've also heard of a person calling in to see if the warranty would cover the 'built-in cup holder' the he accidentally broke off his desktop computer. If you don't know what I'm talking about, open your cd tray.

ROFL I posted my comment just before I left this morning and didn't catch that typo til I got home. So I am passing out the white out for everyones keyboards, so you can all have a shit key, it's simple all you do is white out the f on the shift key and you have the shit key =o)~

Make one typo every now and then and all of DPC sees it!

Well, I did get a comment from the one with the telling user name.

It's not wildly offensive, since he's obviously came to it via some effort, to judge by the number of words and an apparent struggle to forge his opinions into language. What appears to be lacking, unfortunately, is any evidence of scrutiny with regards to the facts available from my image.

While I welcome variegate views and opinions, especially passionate ones, I tend to discard those based on false assumptions and conjecture. Given these ingredients, the tone of his delivery prevents any recourse.

i lust for comments. i can't imagine ever complaining about getting one, no matter what it was or how it was presented. i can use my own discretion and to decide which comments i will entertain and which i will discard, though at this point i've been trying to take at least something from them all.

i've been bending my will lately to try and photograph in a way that better pleases the majority pundits of this site. the klobber's recent comment (yay, i got one!) on my still life petty much nailed that. i thought that was pretty awesome.

I agree Darcy.
I also got one from him [positive and constructive] and appreciated it.
Any comment is better then NO comment.
It's difficult with so many entries in a large challenge. Some only comment on the good photos while others comment on the _bad_ photos.
Thanks to all that take their time to even look at my photo.

"To start, press any key. Where's the any key? All I see is ESK, PigUp, and Katurl. Oooh, Tab. I'll get one of those. Boy computer hacking sure is hard. Where's my Tab?" Homer Simpson

I hear, 'cept that my concluding sentence now seems to draw from an ellipsis. :-(

as one of the initial thread starters,, mine being in the Rant forum titled Yuck...

I do apologize for calling him a jerk.. that was uncalled for as was leaving a single word comment,, of "Yuck" on my image.

Don't like it? then pass merrily on whether warranted or not I feel a comment such as that is rude and unnecessary.

I also got a 'constructive' comment by dertyklobb telling me that he disliked the photo I took because I left a sticker on one of the pieces in the shot. He neatly finished it off by telling me to, and I quote, "think intelligently" about my subject. To the user dertyklobb, I apoligize for my inclusion of stickers and I honestly do try to think intelligently most of the time, but that time I must have slipped and if you'd like to call me a dumbass, next time just go for it.

JC, would you have preferred a comment saying "Wow"? Less letters but better I suppose. "Yuck" is just like "Wow" but saying that he didn't like the photo.

People are always complaining that they want negative comments rather than all positive ones. Now they are being given them there's a public out-cry... I don't get it :-/

didnthaveacamera, you shouldn't really refer to which photo is yours in the challenge while it is still in the voting phase. Maybe you should edit your post there.

I apoligize. Is it ok now?

i know now to try to be more considerate, but i'm not promising anything. no doubt, many were beautiful...but if i want a centerpiece for my table, i'll buy a centerpiece for my table. if i want to see your collection of action figures, i'll ask for a link to your auction on eBay.

Klob, your intentions on providing constructive criticism are well taken. What you are lacking is emotional maturity and tact. Lack of tact will overshadow and destroy any good intention on your part. Keep your objective in mind. If your objective is to share meaningful criticism, then be tactful, because it is only human nature to reject and scorn that which is perceived to be a personal affront -- you should know that. And don't forget that your opinion is not everyone's truth -- try to express your subjections more as opinion and less as fact. And one other thing: you don't own this site, so it is quite presumtive on your part to tell others what they cannot post as a contest entry. On the other hand, if it truly is not your objective to share meaningful criticism, and you simply want to exercise your right to express your opinions regardless of how that affects other people, then by all means don't "try" to be considerate, and do continue dispensing the vitriol which is so uniquely "you."

Gotta disagree with ya Konador. Yuck is not the counterpart of wow. Yuck is rude. Boring might be a better counterpart of wow.

no,, I'm not saying that... I'm saying that using a one word comment such as yuck, doesn't tell me anything. Well maybe it tells me the commenter doesn't have a grasp of the language, or a clue how to make a constructive comment. I'm not out for all positive comments.
That would be counter productive to my growth.

Sure I can surmise he doesn't like the image. Fine. I've got plenty of comments telling me why people don't like my work and I've learned from them. I may not agree, but I have learned. I know how someone views the image. Why it doesn't work for them. How it could be better.

What do I learn from Yuck? Nothing constructive. In fact it's a waste of the commentors time and mine and the sites because it generates 4 page threads like this.

Phoeey!
