Hey everyone, I'm still new to photography and am still learning with my 400D. I just wondered if I could have some feedback on this shot of a cactus I took. The picture has been cropped and i have adjusted the levels slightly.

Very nice. Maybe a tad more DOF but other than that I like the full frame shot. Good details.

Hey thanks for the feedback,i agree was frustrating me the lack of depth in the picture, however i am happy about filling the frame whilst the photo still staying in focus

You know, I think the depth of field is spot-on. The top layer of needles is in focus, while the bottom are not. I think if all the needles were in focus, it would look way too messy, although it would give a more "mean" cactus look to it. This way, its less threatening and more pleasing to look at. The brown/white needles and green plant contrast quite well. The fact that you've filled the frame with the cactus creates a "random pattern:" it looks natural, but organized nonetheless.
