I recommend that you put that in your bio ... some people are shy to comment on a portfolio with criticism without being specifically invited.

You might wanna spell it sponge tho ... ;)

hey! i'm new too! i don't have a portfolio, but welcome aboard. this is an addicting site. i've already wasted away two whole days of my life to it, and you know what, i regret nothing. :-)

how new to the photography world are you? i started photography just last summer, but i'm intimidated by your work! not cool...but good stuff...

Hey all. I'm new-ish as well.
I have entered two contests, and i was pretty happy with my BW portrait rating, considering it was my first photo entered.
I could use some serious help with Still life though...
any pointers are more then welcome!!!

I waste everyday on this site and I will continue to. Its awesome.

Started Photography in August last year. Just keep reading like I have done. I'm still an amateur but I really like some of my recent work. They are about to go on sale at an Art Function. Hope they do well.

i've only started reading up on photography since i joined the site. before that i used different modes on my camera like "sunset", "snow", or even "beach". i get pretty good results, and i can make my pics look decent by doctoring them up, but i still don't feel very confident with my overall abilities. give me time though, and i could even start getting cocky...

I started taking random pics in high school...for my theater and of my tennis team. I was even nick-named the paparazzi lol.
a few of my friends couldnt afford senior pics, and asked if i could take some...the rest is all history.
i never took still life or scenery stuff because i knew i could photograph people...and im trying to change that now.

I'm not trying to get cocky. I don't believe any will sell but we can always hope. The Art Function is just a fund raiser for a basketball team I coach.

oh ok, i can do pretty good at that. my first photoshoot day i just took pictures of flowers, so you probably already know these things, but try the following:

try keeping your aperature ( if you go to a manual style setting on your camera it's the "f/" followed by a number) on a low value. this should allow you to focus more on the subject at a closer range and let everything else sort of fade away. also, i don't like flash settings. they are such a nuisance, always showing reflections in pics. the mushroom pic under my profile; the reflection is the one thing i hate the most about it. try turning off the flash, leaving the subject in a well lit environment, and tweaking with the ISO and shutter speeds. higher numbers are more sensitive to light, but i recomend a shutter speed of about 1/20 of a sec.. also, tweak the shutter speed before tweaking the ISO.

i hope these work, i've only started messing with these myself. goo luck MissyKay!

oh, i wasn't saying you sounded cocky. sorry, i should have put a smiley after i said that. i was making fun of myself. i usually try to be the exact opposite of cocky, but i'll sometimes let myself slip. sorry if it sounded wrong! :)

ps, by the looks of it, i think your basketball team will be getting new jerseys
