Happy groundhog's day.

Does anyone know if it say it's shadow?

You'll have to ask alanfreed, since he's Phil's official photographer :o)

I don't get it. There are hundreds of thousands of groundhogs in this country alone -- why do we choose one (or two) to stare at every year? Seems silly.

I saw the first flock of Robins today. Spring is coming whether the Groundhog thinks so or not.

So today is Robin Day too.

Well according to our local station it did not see its shadow so spring is just around the corner, of course it doesnt make much difference, really funny tradition though LOL

Here I think the groundhog is saying...

'No, I'm not coming out. No, I'm not. Not, not, not. You can't make me. It's too durn cold.'

Happy Groundhog day everyone! it's been my favorite holiday for a long time. Allow me to share one of the Groundhog day poems that I wrote when I was younger:

Roses are red
Groundhogs are brown
Unless you shave them
then they're kinda pinkish

Hello from Punxsutawney! No shadow here... enjoy your early spring!

no shadow here.

Interesting bit of trivia.

My Grandfather Valentine used to say he was born on Groundhog's day. Yet, his birth certificate, etc all said February 14th, and he "celebrated" on the 14th.

Seems that Groundhog's day, at least here in the Southern Appalachians used to be February 14h. A lot of the old timers still don't give any credance to Phil on the 2nd. They say you have to wait until the 14th to know.

Up here in Colorado could use a little Spring (not complaining). This winter has been a nice change from the drought we have been in. But we are moving in a month and could use some clear driving conditions;)

Well as long as we are celebrating Groundhogs day, I'll add another thing I celebrate on this day. Feb 2nd, 1999 I quit smoking. Groundhog Day with Bill Murray was my favorite movie, probably still is, so I selected this day to quit as I would have something else to celebrate later in life once I forget how bad I was to even start smoking.

Happy Groundhogs day everyone.
