I just got mine in, took some shots, that turned out prety poor, I work most of the night, and took a shot, that I liked, got home from work at about 4,30, gave me half an hour to get it edited, so it was a rush to get into the challenge, Icast a few votes, and then checked, it was 10 votes, avg 3.8, so off to bed.
now it has picked up:

I didn't think that I had a ribbon winner with my entry, but I thought that it would do better than this.

My son,  yakatyou, pointed out something interesting regarding those who have commented on my entry so far. While we both thought that my entry would appeal mostly to men, so far all 5 comments have been positive and have been from females.

I literally feel more and more nauseous as I watch my score plummet. I have some great comments and some slightly controversial ones, but that mostly has to do with the false interpretation of the subject matter.
THEN, there are the people who vote down because they feel it's overly processed. IT'S EXPERT EDITING!!! And in my own opinion I (and others)only did very slight manipulations. It's not like I have 50 images stitched together in rainbow colors or anything...I have the feeling that most of these people are the ones against expert editing and are only scoring lower so people will say, "Ya know, I didn't score very high in the last expert editing challenge, so I'm not going to enter them at all anymore." Guess what people, it's not going to happen; not with me anyway.
I'm sure many others feel this way and it just makes me sick that people can be so closed-minded to new things. If you don't like it, please stay away from it for the sake of others. I know a lot of expert editing nay-sayers probably see this here, but I just need to let it out. I have never been more infuriated about a challenge entry before. Especially one that I love and spent a lot of time and effort on. Thank you.

Blue Moon it's unfair I know and I'm glad to see you're willing to stick with it. I think in time the people who are resisting will realize that there's room enough for everybody. |

Blue Moon, don't get upset. It's the way things are, and getting upset isn't going to do you or anyone else any good. Just say, "Eh!", and go make more pictures.
I really hope the expert challenges are here to stay. It's a good place for experimenting, and I like that. I think they will stay.
My image is doing about what I expected, which usually tends to be a bit lower than what I hoped for, but, live and learn.

Mine is doing pretty well and I am pleased. I think the point of these expert editing rules is that if you need them you can use them, for instance I could never have entered my shot in any other challenge because I had to clone a bit more than is acceptable. Just because they have all these rules allowing you to use what you want to it doesnt mean that you have to use them all. Lighten up, if you want to enter then you just have a bit more at your disposal. I have often had shots I could not enter into challenges because something needed to be edited out to make the image more appealing as an example and because of the rules couldnt enter it.
Just use the relaxed rules to make your photo more appealing.

I couldn't agree more. :o) Same as with advanced editing. Quite often a lot of photos don't need it, and you shouldn't HAVE to go to the extreme just because you can. It's great to have the option if its needed though. :o) |

| Yep. I agree as well. The expert editing gives a lot more leeway, and allows you to use those shots that might just sit on the hard drive waiting for you to figure out something other than DPC to use them for. :) |

It is funny. The shot I entered is actually one of my least edited photos. I almost didn't do anything to it. My score proves it.

If anyone had told me my score would even be close to this before voting I would have laughed til I hurt. I had seriously contemplated not entering this shot all together. Whenever I think I understand DPC voters they throw me a curveball like this. |

Actually, I think I am, but regardless of the placement of this one, I will never complain about it. It's one of my favorites, and I think that there are much better shots out there. I have my picks for top three already. . . hmmmmmmmmm..... Is Judi one of them? |
