I really enjoyed the first two expert challenges - but I had idea that really took advantage of the ruleset. This one was a bit tougher to really emply the ruleset in a powerful way for me. Maybe just a lack of inspiration but I was a bit dissappointed in myself for not having the creative edge. Oh well- 6+ score doesnt suck.

Well, you obviously haven't got to mine yet.

Looking forward to see what you have on offer Judi

today i would vote NO for expert editing as regular or even occasional challenge

score: 4.0 \o/\o/\o/\o/\o/\o/\o/\o/\o/

:-) yea

WITH MY ENTRY IT ISNT IMMEDIATELY OBVIOUS THAT I'VE COMBINED TWO PHOTOS OR THAT IVE USED TEXTURES ..
I LOVE THAT WE CAN USE THE EXPERT EDIT IF WE WANT TO ... AND IF WE DONT WANT TO THEN THAT'S OK ...
I DONT THINK WE SHOULD GET RID OF THE EXPERT EDIT CHALLENGES JUST BECAUSE NOT EVERYONE TAKES ADVANTAGE OF THE OPTIONS OR WOTEVER .....

Exactly...It gives everyone the opportunity to enter an image how they want to. And not have to follow a restrictive guideline.

I definitely took advantage of the expert editing rules in my entry. I usually prefer to create images that, while they might be heavily edited, you wouldn't be able to tell that they have been processed much. That describes my entry, heavily edited but not noticeably.

Of my entries into Min and here I figured my scores would be reversed.

Same thing with me, my minimalism score is terrible, lowest score I have ever gotten, I really hope it goes up. This one is above a 6 now, I thought it would be around 5.5 - I'll never figure it out. :)

voting started at 7 and i thought great ..
then it went straight down to 4.000 in two votes ... and thought shit ..
now its about 5.2000 ... which i cant understand when i was pretty excited about this one, and felt it was one of my best, with a combination of two photos that's either not immediately obvious or not obvious at all ... etc etc etc .... an ordinary thing not ordinary any more, sort of ...
i'm now feeling pretty disheartened .......

yeah Roz, I am in EXACTLY the same boat. I actually have 4 images up for voting at the moment and this has been SUCH a bad few days. All 4 I worked SO hard at. A lot of time invested in the shooting and in the processing (where it was allowed) and just so much in terms of heart and soul and time and energy. Both my Fill the Frame and Minimalism sat at 7.0 for a few votes and have plunged to border 5.0 and 5.3...I am SO down about it all right now that I really don't feel inspired to do any shooting for the next loooongest while :-( AND I mean "REALLY" don't want to get out and shoot. By this point I'm usually hot-footing it out of here to look for the next big idea or photo opportunity.

Faery and Roz...please...understand that we all go through that from time to time. I have only missed 4 challenges in over a year now...and whilst some people sit on high scores for the majority of their entries...I certainly don't. Mine go all over the place and I honestly wonder why I bother at times. But you know what...it makes me fight back..and prove to everyone and myself that I can do it.

So take a break if you feel you need to...but don't give up. For you.

My entry is doing pretty well I am well pleased but it is not obvious that I have used a few things that I definitely would not have been able to use in the other rule sets. Bear in mind that just because it says anything goes I dont think that means that we must all create something obviously over the top using every methods avalable, some of them might be subtle and I think that that is what makes a picture great, the fact that you have used a few/maybe a lot of the expert rules but that you have a pleasing photo in the end, not something that looks fake.

My 2 cents worth.

I will agree with Judi here. Keep on shooting and entering. Low scores will happen. My low scoring images leave my mind right after voting is over if not before. Come to think of it so do the high scoring images. Head on to the next one and the next one after that. It has been almost overwhelming lately how many challenges have been posted so there are just too many opportunities to let slip by because of a stinker score or two.

My score has dropped to a 5.1 with the last 4 votes being 3 and under. I knew this was gonna be a polarizing shot. it will be interesting to see the final curve.

edit: got a 3 then a 2 dropped below 5 now:(

About to just give up!! Seems like I'll never hit a 6 or even the top 50% a challenge! I was really excited about this one also. I love the site, just don't like the sting of the scores :(
