After reading many a review
and looking up many articles.
I decided to buy the 580 flash
however, this is my first flash, and im having alot more truble learning it then learning how to use my camera!
i read the manual
but it was all jargon to me.
I have yet to sit back down and read it again

HOWEVER, i was wondering if anyone could give me some tips
here are some photos form when i used it on auto setting:

for both of these i bouch the flash off the cieling and used the white slide(forget the correct term) to bounce it forward.

i was coursious how to get the effect where the subject is the only one lit up, and not so much the background
any ideas?

thanks dpc
