I shall now officially commence the beginning of the initial start of the 2007 American Idol season thread.
Unless of course it has already formerly been commenced and I missed it, in which case I shall lock this thread and continue to apply Head-On directly to my forehead.

Yes, it's spelled wrong, but if you read it, you'll understand. :)
Personally, I'm voting for the Navy guy. Three reasons:
1) He sang Rascall Flatts.
2) He's in the Navy, and defending our country. . . by singing. . .
3) He's the only one I actually saw.
(that of course is a lie. . . I did watch Simon berate randy for being mean. Had to laugh out loud at that one. :) |

| I wasn't too fond of the kid with the giant, Rudolph-like zit on his nose. But I was glad to see him go through and make his mom proud. |

The first young lady to audition took it very hard. You hate to see the young so vulnerable and devastated at such a young age. As for others, don't they have loved ones that try and say "honey, not on TV" ...

I watch it faithfully & cheer on the dream chasers, but I'm still pissed at AI for the age discrimination...errr, I mean limit :P
Over 30 & singing the Blues :P At least in the Blues genre I'm considered a youngster! lol

Tomorrows looks like it is going to be a riot. Simon telling that guy that he looks like a creature that is out of the jungle with those big eyes. LOL!

Criticizing people who are deluded and tone deaf is one thing, but picking on someone's looks is just uncalled for. Sorry, I just find those moments painful.

It's not so much the age limit as the fact that I'd just dominate everyone there.
Mind you, I can't sing, but with enough firepower and  Art ROFLMAOthreatening to burn everyones house down. . . . I could rule that competition!!!!!!!

Interesting behind the scenes article. The sad thing is, listening to her audio clip, the girl is probably talented enough to get through to Hollywood if the preliminary rounds had bothered to put her through. Apparently they didn't think she made for good TV - no crazy outfit, no big bubbly personality, and no ridiculous amount of power behind her voice to make up for the lack of the other two. Just way too normal. Sweet and mellow gets no TV love.
If I'm being honest, that would be me. I'm no Mariah Carey or Whitney Houston, more like Aimee Mann or Suzanne Vega. I might be able to pull of some of Susan Tedeschi's bluesier work. But Aimee and Suzanne probably wouldn't get past the judges either, just not flashy enough. (Susan might, though.)

It is funny that the ones that are confident, are the ones that can't really sing. The ones that just walk in do pretty good.

Jewel was pretty hot, and seemed very sweet. Paula Abdul said nothing, I would imagine she was drunk or high.
The contestants were horrible, not very talented nor funny.
First show of the season was pretty crappy IMO.
