I mentioned in one of my comments that the person in the pic had a strange appearence. I didn't mean to say that, i actually was referring to the badly chosen perspective..cropping..lens choice. But when I read my own comment i could understand the "personal attack" in it so i changed it. No need to hurt anybody. For being Dutch it's sometimes difficult to fully comprehend the fully impact of writing in English. |

It's easy for us native English speakers to forget that not everyone here is writing in English as a native tongue. Sometimes when talking to biteme, I forget she's not completely fluent in English and then I have to go back and explain things that I say that can be a bit cryptic to her. I know that my twisting of the English language is sometimes a bit frustrating to her. :-) But, then again, she's no afraid to ask "what do you mean?"
It almost makes me ashamed to say that the extent of my language skills is that I can order a beer in German and Spanish. :-)

I've lived in England for two years, but that is also 20 years ago. OMG! am I THAT old?? :-D
yes....
I understand most of the things written here. But I do worry about my spelling :-D
but I guess even the people who speak english ( or american) as their native tongue make grammar and spelling mistakes. The main thing is 'we get what you're trying to say'
isn't it?

I'd say it is... our English is quite bastardized and Americanized. Yes, we can hold a conversation with someone from the UK, Ireland, Australia, etc... but some things they just won't get and vice versa.
I, for one, can't understand a word of spoken Irish English.

Bah just ignore them, i get responces like that quite a bit (a few times they made sence, like one i accidently posted that i gave it a 3, which is a slap in the face. Once they brought that to my attention i appologized and changed my comment but kept the vote. People shouldn't be so touchy with that stuff, i dont care if a comment is good/bad, both help to make my next photo better (or so i hope). Dont post what you think they want you to post, give an honest opinion. |

In that regard then it's a dialect, not a language in and of itself.
English is the language, be it the Queen's English or that spoken in the colonies. ;oP
edit: Canadian isn't a language either.
