Has anybody seen this movie yet? It stars Clive Owen, Julianne Moore and Michael Caine. It is set in the year 2027 in Britain and the world has fallen to anarchy as a result of humanity's inability to procreate. The youngest person on earth is now 18 years old.

Anyway, just curious as to what others thought of the movie. I saw it yesterday. I found it to be entertaining as it has some excellent action sequences and the cinematography in general is great. However, the plot while interesting in of itself doesn't break any new grounds and overall falls a little short. Without giving away parts of the movie I just found too many things about it hard to believe (similar to Babel in that way) and in the end the movie relies too much on pasting "Iraq" into this movie.
I wish Cuaron (the director) had tried to be a little different rather than rehash the same old same old or at least finish it in a somewhat conclusive manner. All in all it was a good movie due to it's entertainment value although I could have done without Julianne Moore who seem like a miss cast to me.

inability to procreate? Goodness. And that would start in 2009, just two years from now? Hmmmm. I don't know.

PS - I was hoping for some grandchildren. I'll have to tell my kids to get going.

Saw it a while back, and was quite disappointed. As you said, the action is very well done, but the plot definitely lacks - it's all about the journey, but it's the destination that we (the audience) become interested in, yet that's never given enough detail. In fact, it feels like the film ends 20 mins before it should have done...

The premise seems to have potential, but, like pretty much all the lame hollywood attempts at science fiction, they apparently paid no attention to technical details. For me, this really kills a film, totally ditches my "suspension of disbelief."

I loved the film...but then again I have been a fan of Cuaron's work ever since he entranced me with his take on the third Harry Potter movie (which is, arguably, the most artistic of them all to date, though all four of them are certainly fine pieces of work).

I felt that the story, too, was hackneyed for our time...but this was so finely told that I couldn't help but be persuaded by it. I knew exactly what was going to happen start to finish, but I really enjoyed the ride that Cuaron takes us on along the way. I have long been a fan of these sorts of dystopian, not-so-unbelievably-far-in-the-future "jabs" at where human nature is driving the world (think Bladerunner, the Handmaid's Tale, I Robot, etc.).

So I guess I'll be one of the first to say I really felt I got my money's worth out of this one.

I saw it and really liked it...although it's not a feel good movie by any means. After we all left the movie, we HAD to go to a bar. haha.

I thought Clive Owen did a fantastic job.

The entire movie is nothing more than things blowing up and people killing each other. Plain and simple. If you like that sort of mindless plot, this is the movie for you. While they do pretend to have a plot and in theory it's a good one, they fall very short of achieving anything remotely interesting. This is no more than a mediocre, at best, high budget "war" movie.

To me, it felt like all the action in the movie was just because they could afford it. There was no real rhyme or reason to any of it. Like I said before, the so called plot is actually interesting but you see very little of it. Just when you think the movie is actually gonna start to get interesting, it ends. I was very disappointed.
