Does anyone know why all of a sudden the pics i view online have become very poor quality? Any photo viewed online has become kind of pixelated. Even if i view a pic on my PC it's quality is fine, but if i upload it to DP it becomes poor quality when viewed online.

I always get the same thing. If there is a white background or something, I see pink gradients. Makes the pics look pretty bad sometimes.

Has it been ok until just recently? is it a new problem?
Are all pics from DPC looking odd, or is it just the ones you upload?
What size are you making them before uploading to DPC? Generally 640 and JPG works very well.

What sort of connection are you using? If you are on dialup, are you using an "accelerator" program, or does your ISP advertise "high-speed dialup?"

What browser are you using? Try using a different browser and see if you get the same results.

Or did you change monitors or do you have a low-end LCD monitor? I visited a friend who has a really cheap LCD monitor and everything here looked jaggedy, gradienty and awful, even at hi res.

Probably you have somehow changed your colour depth. Right click somewhere empty on your desktop and check the properties.

Thumbnail to example?

Mine don't get pixely, but when I upload pictures the edges get blurred. Someone said to resize in small increments, but that only seemed to make it worse. I use GIMP.

Somehow, my DPI setting for my monitor was changed. The normal DPI is 96 and mine was set to 120 DPI. I got really nervious becasue an entry I made in a challenge that had a lot of thin wires looked terrible. It showed all pixelated, but no one else saw it that way. I came across the setting set it to 96 DPI and everything looked fine. I still do not know how the setting changed, but it may have been from the installtion of a game or something.

To check this, right click on anywhere on your desktop, the "Display Properties" dialog box opens, click on the "Settings" tab, then on the "Advanced" button.

Then when the next dialog box opens, click on the "General" tab (if it's not displayed by default) and the Display DPI setting are right there. Make sure it says 96 DPI. Change it to 96 and hit OK, and then OK again. Depending on your setup, you may have to reboot.

do you have web accelerator? it could downsample images

Please check the DPI on your Display Settings as I described above. It only affected some applications, like Word and Internet Explorer. The pics looked perfect in Photoshop or other imaging programs.

also check to insure that you are using the native resolution of your LCD monitor. Otherwise, the monitor interpolates and it doesn't look as good.

I noticed when I upload it looks pixelated but in 24 hrs it clears up.
I really have no idea why.

It gets a little crumpled going through the wires, but it flattens out again in time. ;-)
