Would "Black and White Portraits" include animal portraits?

I'd say yes, but voters might disagree...
If you're going to do an animal portrait, I'd suggest a posed "studio-like" portrait and not a candid.

In 2002 voters felt it was fine and a kitty came in the Top 5. In 2007 voters tend to be a little more snarky with stuff like that.
I'd also point out there was just recently a Pet Portrait challenge. Voter fatigue may be a factor.
That's all just "playing the game" though. If you like your shot, enter it.

Thanks for the responses. I decided that a people portrait was the safer way to go even though I have a black cat and a white cat. Would have been a chore getting them within a meter (or yard) of each other anyways. LOL |

Beautiful stuff, quiet!
... I had a Nikon Coolpix 8700 then tripped over a raised cobblestone in Antwerwerp, Belgium and got ankled by a tree trunk protector and then went sprawling putting my hands forward so I did not smash my face into the rocks and drove my EasyPix half way to China. I probably don't have to tell you how sick it made me. A restaurant manager took good care of my wounds (hands and elbows) but I was only concerned about my Nikon. (*sigh*) |

I don't really use the coolpix very often anymore. It doesn't really matter what camera I use since I suck at taking digital photographs. |

Thanks, I was also wondering the same thing.
Also, would it be ok if in the challenge, I left the eyes or hair or something in colour? or does the whole thing have to be b/w? I'd appreciate if anyone could answer this! |

Just my opinion, but selective desat is probably going to get you hammered in this challenge, as well as duotones.
