If there's no speed challenge. You can still share some pictures.

Don't let the cat out of the bag yet...they may not do a speed challenge now.

Maybe a speed challenge for "sweets or candy 2" might be more suitable for everyone.

Not every country celebrates Halloween. Since we're at it which countries actually celebrate it?

I believe that Mexico celebrates "Dia de los Muertos" at about the same time.

Romania (in Eastern Europe) has "ziua mortilor" meaning the same thing like "dia de los muertos" (the day of the dead). They are bringing flowers and candles to the cemeteries and give away food, candles, drinks and all sort of things that the gone souls might be in need of (old tradition). It is on 1st November every year. Lately... the youth have costumed parties at school. But it is just a shadow compared to Halloween in US and Canada.

Halloween isn't particularly big here (and technically it is Beltane anyway, as we are in spring).

Mind you, I have a 9 yo, and he is VERY scarey, so I could just submit a photo of him doing his John Travolta impression ..... or that may just be a little too much methinks ;)

I think, but am not sure, that the Mexico day of the dead may be Nov 5th, so they'd miss a speed challenge, but I could be wrong on that date.

The city here celebrates Halloween the last Thursday of Ocotober. They chose that day cause of school activities. No football games on Thursday nights locally. What a way to decide.

My little "Gobblin" took a specially made pillow case complete with a drawstring with him and when we got home this evening he had it over half full that was a lot of treats.

the only haloween related things I've ever heard is on movies/simpsons.

its not "not very big" here... its pretty much unheard of.

this weekend?

I've updated the Halloween challenge so that the editing rules are no longer in effect.
10/31/2003 08:45:18 AM · #18
so the new Halloween speed challenge means

1) I can manipulate the image
2) I have to take it today, manipulate it today, and post it by today?

Doesn't anyone here have a job... children... a life... <g>

I can see requiring it to be posted in one day, but in that case, why not let us just quickly "play with" an older image and make it for today. In other words, why a new image, as long as we do the editing specifically for the challenge!
10/31/2003 09:00:24 AM · #19
Because....

...wait for it...

It's a challenge! Entering an old photo is totally against the point of a speed challenge. Also, you dont have to manipulate it at all, just the option is there if you wish.

Now I will have to come home early from trick or treating to get my shot in : )
10/31/2003 11:13:44 AM · #21
Figures it has to be today only. This could prove to be difficult, esp for those on the west coast as trick or treat gets over late for you guys (11pm EST for those of you out on the west coast). I already did some Halloween Portraits for my niece. Too bad those were taken almost 2 weeks ago. The unlimited editing would've worked to my advantage too because those are heavily "fixed" with PS.

Good luck everyone - Bob

Last year's card. Lacking in technique, but not sentiment!
