may I ask you one weird question?
I know smoking is allowed everywhere in Germany, is it also allowed inside the hotel where the workshop will be taking place?
I am very allergic to cigarette smoke.
I just would like to find out what to expect:)
thank you

i think you will have a hard time finding a non-smoker-hotel in germany, the tobaco industry is just too strong to ban smoking in restaurants and hotels (at least in germany, cause the hotel, where i'm working here in iceland is a non-smoking one...)

you know what, just join us (lowonenergy, highonenergy, isi79 and me) on the camping, you'll have no troubles there with your smoke allergy...;)

edit: and gary, could you please let me know with a short message, if you received the payment? thanks :-)

Hi All,

I'm hoping to be joining you guys in Munster now!

I'm looking to fly into Bremen and then get a train to Munster. Anyone with local knowledge know if this is a good choice?

It's coming out reasonably priced so would be a good option financially and the train journeys are showing as 1hr 30mins with no changes so it sounds good in theory but i have no idea if this takes me to the right place on Munster? or how close the Bremen station is to the airport?

my other option is to fly to Frankfurt or Dusseldorf and hire a car?

thanks for any advise you can give me!

It would probably be easier and faster to fly to Düsseldorf (or to Dortmund). The train (directly) from DUS Airport to Munster needs approx. 1:20

I've been planning on attending this workshop for a long time and I finally managed to get some time off work. Does anyone have any travel suggestions for me about what would be cheapest coming from New York? It seems like it might be better to fly into a different airport and then taking a train?

I'm also interested in knowing if anybody else will be traveling/staying in the area during the times before and after the workshop. I have June 25th till July 4th off and I would like to get the most out of my vacation and get to know the place a bit. It seems crazy to spend the money to go for just a day or two.

Is there still room in the hotel? I'm still debating my lodging options. I don't have a ton of money so I'm tempted to go the camping route with some of you fine people but it would be nice to stay near to where all the action is.

Basically, I have no idea what the country/area is like and I need help. Please point me in the right direction to get there without worries so that I can enjoy the company of all you talented photographers!

Gary, I'll be sending you the paypal payment once I get my other travel plans in order.

I have to shoot at an exhibition in 90 minutes, so I can not answer your questions in depth now. A couple of posts back there is a post by me with options about where to stay and stuff like that. As for flying from New York; maybe you could contact pawdrix, he came from New York last year and plans to come again this year (altough he will arrive too late to participate in the workshop).

When I get back this afternoon/tonight I will try to say a bit more and answer the other questions.

Hey all, things are looking up. I seem to have pretty good control over my schedule these days. Working as a freelance gives you that, along with ulcers about making bill payments on time. LOL.

The long and short is you can ink me in with some of that erasable ink at this point, but I'll give it an 83.6% chance that I will be there!

See you all then.

Edit; Check your email Gary.

Things like trains, places to stay, arrival airports, the exact location have been mentioned before in this thread.

If you don't mind to travel by train, Muenster is a pretty good start to go to several destinations in Europe.

Amsterdam is 3 to 4 hours.
Berlin is 4 hours.
Paris 6 to 7 hours.
Brussels 5 to 6 hours.
München 6 to 7 hours.
Vienna 10 to 11 hours.
Prague 9 to 10 hours.
Copenhagen 7 to 9 hours.
Amsterdam to Paris is 4 to 5 hours.

It is also possible to rent a car and check out the countryside or visit other cities in the area. The area around Münster (ü = ue) is very nice, several old palaces, nice countryside.

This site Trekearth has photos from any country on earth, maybe a tool to see what certain areas / cities are like.

OUCH...that hurts. I must not have made that great an impression but I think we did meet last year?

Maybe I'll wear brighter colors to stick out a bit more...perhaps a Black Feather Boa with a Day-Glo Lime Green Tutu, no shirt...White Clogs. ;P

Sorry for my english, I can see it's not that good...:(
BECAUSE we met last year I'm happy to see you can come. The "finally" in my sentence was intended to mean that I wasn't sure if you were arriving on time to the GTG or not.
On the other side I throught a newyorker like you would have a harder skin... :))
Steve, don't worry, you cannot be unnoticed (even in the case you try to, LOL).

Álex.

yes!

was I allowed to answer that or just Pawdrix?
(speaking, of course, for all New Yorkers)

Cool!! I'm REALLY looking forward to meeting the esteemed individuals showing up for this thing. I'm totally in awe and shall probably remain so. And yes, you can answer for Pawdrix. I'm sure he doesn't mind. :-)

My last round of Street shooting in Munster produced only one shot...

There were some cool looking little streets with twists and turns but I didn't hang long enough to make anything happen.

I'll need to put on my Street Shooting game face for this next round. No more Mister Nice Guy...or maybe I'll just drink less beer? Nahhhhh!

Read the title of this shot. LOLOLOL! One of many small spots I'd like to revisit.

After the GTG I'm going to hit Prague. I bought my plane ticket home from Budapest. Anyone have suggestions, hook-ups...names, please post them my way. I've made no arrangements other than the tickets so, I'm free and easy.
