For those of you wondering where to stay, here is some info. Some of it has been said already, but it can't hurt to summarize it a bit here.

In Münster (or Muenster) there are places to stay for every budget. Try to get reservations as early as possible to be sure. The Stadthotel Münster, the place where a lot of us stayed in 2006, is already fully booked for the 30th of June for example. Altough it wasn't much cheaper than the Kaiserhof hotel.

If you are staying at a relative far distance from the Kaiserhof hotel and the city center, it might be a good idea to rent a bicycle. The city is bicycle friendly and the distances are not so far. The advantage is that you are independent of busses, taxi's etc and can drink a beer or two without endangering yourself or others when you would otherwise drive a car afterwards. The workshop itself is not a drinkfest, but on Saturday evening or Sunday you might want to try some of that excellent German beer.
At this site you can see where you can rent bicycles and what it costs.

Places to stay

There is only one campingsite in/near Muenster that I know of.

Campingplatz Münster
I believe that this camping is 4.5km from Hotel Kaiserhof and the route is almost a straight line into the center. When you bring your own tent it is an inexpensive place to stay. Prices are on the site.

There is a busstop directly at the campground. The bus departs every 20 minutes to the Münster city centre. I don't know if they rent bicycles.

I think that Lowonenergy, Highonenergy and Mephisto are staying here.

Youth hostel

Jugendgästehaus Aasee
Distance to the Kaiserhof Hotel by foot is 1.7 km (30 minutes when you walk at normal speed)

Bismarckallee 31
48151 Münster

Tel: +49 (0)251/53028-0
Fax: +49 (0)251/53028-50

I believe it costs 25,50 euro a night for a room with four beds, including breakfast, but you might have to share the room with someone. Shower and toilet in the room. Single room is 40,50 euro a night. Modern building and facilities. You are advised to make a reservation. Don't know how well they speak English, but it can be booked via the hotel reservations link on the Muenster city site.

Hotels

If you want to stay somewhere else than the Kaiserhof you can find other hotels via the Muenster Hotel search and reservations page. Any hotel that is worth mentioning is on that site.
Preferably search for hotels in Münster center, but when you rent a bike or don't mind to take a cab you can expand your search to the more outward regions as well.

I have not yet found any Bed&Breakfast locations.

Distances
If you want to know how far it is or how long you have to walk to the Kaiserhof hotel, you can use Viamichelin.
Choose the "Driving directions" tab at the top. Fill in the address from the hotels. When you scroll down a bit you can choose "by foot".
When it asks you to select the right address: For the Kaiserhotel choose " D - Nordrhein-Westfalen - Münster - Innenstadtring : Bahnhofstraße". But when you have a postal code I don't think it will come up with so many suggestions.

For driving directions always choose Muenster NWF (Nordrhein-Westfalen), because there are more Muenster's in Germany (>10). Germany also has very good public transport (in my opinion).
Timetables for the trains are at the site of the Deutsche Bahn. The Muenster train station is Münster(Westf)Hbf.

The place where the workshop will take place:

Hotel Kaiserhof
Bahnhofstr. 14
48143 Münster
Tel +49 (0)2 51/4 17 80
Fax +49 (0)2 51/4 17 86 66

Gary has locked 20 rooms until May 7th for the following prices:
10 X Komfort @ 86 Euros p/n
10 X Superior @ 94 Euros p/n
Cue word is DPC Workshop

Well kiddios and fellow dutchies, looks like everything is running smoothly for me to come and hang out in tha Doitch-land.

I'll be shooting a music video in Amsterdam which I'm ever-so-cleverly-trying-to-date slightly before the GTG, so I can of course use that to my advantage and just hop on a train to Germany. (Hey Gary and Nasti, remember I suck at taking trains and take hours to get there? Well yup, I think I remember something about the directions this time)

I think I'll be missing my own highschool graduation in Amsterdam for this music video job but all I can say is: hah hah hah hah hah, suckers.

I want to thank you Sander for the invite! Sure looks like a fun and informative get together. But as I am just a beginner photographer I think this is wayyyy over my head right now. I do not have much of the needed equipment for studio or portrait photography.

Cool joey that you are shooting a video in Amsterdam!! Again with benjamin Bates?! Can we seen it on dutch television by then? :P

And about the Youth hostel... i think u have to be a member or something, that's why we didn't stay there last year. But it's not that much to become a member, i think about €15,-

Azrifel just drew my attention to the GTG. I'm working on June 30th (spent money I didn't have on equipment I didn't need... or maybe). But the 31st sounds fine, I can get there by car in 4 hours or I might just hop on a train. I'll have to see how things go until then.

Okay, if we actually do manage to meet on the 31st of June we should be given the Nobel prize. Sorry about that :)

Have just noticed this - thank you Azrifel for drawing my attention to it! I would be very interested in attending. My only concern at the moment being money - i graduate this summer, and have HUGE debts to repay... Any chance you could put my name down anyway, and i'll let you know if it turns out i can't make it? It does sound absolutely awesome...

Hey Riot,

I'm just taking definite confirmations for the list. I am doing this because the amount of people only interested in coming would blow the list away. It would be great if you could join us, but I can only add your name if you are certain you can come. Let me know if you can confirm you are coming and I will add your name.

thanx

Right, i've made some arrangements and i can definitely come - please put me down as certain, for all four workshops. I would also like to book a double room - do i sort that with the hotel, or can i just add the price to the paypal payment, or what?

Thanks again for bringing this to my attention!

I think you can. They know we have the rooms locked and the seminar rooms are booked. A small explanation and the quote should get you one of the rooms.

Everybody does all four workshops, four groups will be made at the start and each group attends one of the workshops in rotation. You just have to register at the e-mail address mentioned above.

Cool that you're coming too. :)
Please sent a mail to the address I mentioned in the previous post to register. The price of 150 euro covers all four workshops.
You have to sort the room with the hotel and arrange payments with them.

See you there!

Ditto some of the others. Azrifel, thanks for the heads up/ invite.
I'd love to come just to meet so many, many DPCers that I've come to know and respect from the forum but I'm really not interested in studio photography or glamour portraiture so I just can't justify the money (once travel and accommodation and meals and drinks have been added onto the workshop cost).
Have a wonderful time, which I'm sure you all will!
Raise a glass to those of us who aren't with you!

So far a great response to the workshop/gtg, in the last week only we have 9 new registrations. Thanks to the great marketing work of azrifel. We have increased the limit of participants slightly so there are still a few places open if you are interested in joining.

I've just had an invite from Azrifel as well (I think he must be getting desperate.lol ), and sadly had to turn it down.

It sounds like a fabulous occasion and I would have loved both the workshops, and getting to meet everyone, however on this occasion it isn't to be, so you will just have to hold another one next year so I can attend :- )

Or maybe you could move muenster a little closer so I can pop along in the evening ?

And thanks again for the invite Sanders

The closest airport is FMO that's right. It is about 30 kilometers to Münster from there. There are buses running from the airport to Münster although I am not sure how often they leave.
