To all who may be interested, I put together some simple little lighting examples on a website here:

Wish I would have had this for a couple of previous challenges. Thanks.

Thank you!!! This is exactly what I need. I keep getting comments on my lighting and didn't know what to do about it.

I will be doing more of these, multiple lights, different subjects and such.

Also re the Depth of field thread, I did a DOF tutorial that Drew says should go up on this site early next week : )

Exactly the kind I was expecting and was looking for a solution on. I couldn't get my lighting to focus in the right area on the product so certain areas are too bright or too dark. This was a glass object so it was very difficult to get right.

My photographer friend told me I should have had a lamp off to the side and possibly a piece of cardboard on the side of the camera to keep the lamp from shining on the camera. He said I did right by not having my flash on and it just needed that same level lighting to even out the focus on the bottle.

Oh well, I'm going to try to keep learning and maybe one of these days I'll get it right.

Thank you magnetic. I could have used this info a week ago. I didn't really pay much attention to the lighting until I started getting comments on my current picture. Now I see what I can do to make my picture better. And when I have time I am going to retake it with my lighting different. Thanks again.
