'Twas a bright DPChristmas, and all through the site
not a photo was blurring, not even at night.
The settings were checked in the cameras with care
in hopes that blue ribbons soon would be theirs.

While images nestled all snug in their cards,
(filling up 50 Gig drives wasn’t hard!)
a punked-out Achoo, and Larus in drag,
had just settled in to the forums to brag

when out from the ether arose a new challenge
to which DPCers all charged in a phalange.
What devious plot had Langdon and Drew
cooked up to befuddle the DPC crew?

When Judi first saw it, she flung off her clothes,
DrAchoo glued a bug to his nose,
recalcitrant members paid up their fees
while Leroy just smiled and pulled out the cheese.

Librodo threw open his closet of scarves,
Icelandic landscapes were shipped in from Mars,
all to prepare for this wonder of wonders,
this challenge that plowed other challenges under:

“This week, ‘tis the season to give all you can,
don’t shoot Low Key, Without Subject, or Zen,
give us eye candy, nothing outré,
up the Wow Factor and blow us away!”

As the midnight ride of a nation’s dawn,
or the message that ran from Marathon,
these glorious words flew o’er the globe,
a gospel to gladden the grumpiest Job.

All the great heroes would throw their lots in,
the whispers began right away: “Who would win?”
Competition was fierce, the payoff was huge,
to be Best of the Best, to o’ertop the deluge!

A thousand pictures… two thousand were entered,
beautiful wind-blown models off centered,
utterly fanatic photography nerds
put shiny baubles directly on thirds

with alien bees and silver reflectors
lighting the treasures of jewel collectors.
Arnit spiraled construction paper
so many times it curled like a vapor,

and speaking of vapor, food dyes were poured
in water as clear as a Nordic fjord.
Cattails paraded ‘neath cloud hieroglyphs
as Bear_Music waited for just the right skiff.

After what seemed like an infinite time lapse
the turnover hit like fierce thunderclaps,
it shook DP Challenge down to its core,
none could believe the highest high score.

The picture stood bare, like an old piece of wood,
exposing its texture and feeling, it stood
like a beacon of presence burst forth from the wrapping
whose glitter had faded, its energy sapping.

Where content was king, form had o’erthrown.
With beauty skin deep, the blue found the bone.
Jjbeguin had shown them the light,
“Chiaroscuro to all, and to all black and white!”

Great work :)
Should get a different DPCer to record each line, composite them all together, add sound, add music, add a flash animation, and make it into a DPC Christmas card :)

Bucket got brown, he really had flubbed it,
but he didn't mind because posthumous loved it!
