Well, a reprise on the daughter front coupled with feeling a need to do something ANYTHING! gave me the chance to get my week 2 post in at 5 minutes to midnight! Far too tight for me usually but it took my mind off of other things.

Oops I've been away so I'm nearly a week late but now that I'm home and have a picture I can't upload it to my blog for some reason...there's just something boring about a PAW without a Picture.

I have added you.

I also got week 3 up.

I am a week behind on comments. I got a few done and decided to make me a chart of who is participating and checking off the weeks comments so I can keep track. I will try to get caught up in the next few days.

Week three up here as well, though I doubt I'll post here everytime I add a shot. A good way to keep track of others additions is to use an RSS/Atom feed. A good free reader is:

GreatNews RSS Reader

Most of the pages I've gone to have feeds enabled. Use the "add feed" function in GreatNews and everytime you open the program it tells you who has updated their PAW or PAD. You can then click on the feed link and it opens the page. Or, you can have it running in the background and it notifies you immediately.

I "think" I have everybody's PAW on my link list. If I don't please let me know and I'll add it. :)

Blogger is becoming too cumbersome...

So being new to Blogger, I have to ask. Does it always act up so much or is it just me?? I seem to run across a lot of red x's when posting as well as viewing. A simple "F5" usually will do the trick, but that just seems kind of pointless to me. Oh well, guess you can't complain too much about something that's free.

i decided to start a couple. I will try to update them both at least weekly although the Georgia one should be much more often. the Georgia one will also contain some older images since I plan for it to get to at least 500 images.

here are the links if anyone is interested.

I got around to reinstalling the operating system after saving all my photos and stuff; I still need to instal some software, but I should be up and running back to normal pretty soon.

So how is it going ? How is sticking to one theme for longer than a week treating you ?
02/07/2007 09:33:46 AM · #368
Just posted my week 4 and week 5. I will do better next and the next week and the next week....... Just commenting on a few from other members.

I'm enjoying the theme thing. It makes it easier for me since I don't have to come up with an idea, I can spend more time looking for what I know I need. Been successful so far at posting every week, so that's good. :)

The immediate benefit I am seeing in mine is that I've got a bw entry in one of the challenges that is actually above a 5. (That's good for me). I'm becoming more comfortable with the various conversions, but more importantly, what to do before I snap that makes bw more effective.

Since i choose something which i don't usually do, it has allowed me to experiment and slowly find a way in it.

I started late but it has already helped me. my theme seems boring (the georgia one) but one problem i have is being lazy and or scared to take a shot. I drive about 2 to three hours most days and I always drive past things and think "that would be a cool picture" but i never stop or take it. mostly because i am scared of the cops harrasing me. But since Is tarted this i have not only stopped I have turned around and gone back when i missed something. I have already gotten some very cool shots (at least i think so) and some even cooler ones that i may submit to free study. Hell i even took a candid today when i was less than 20 feet and he was looking at me, then I pulled into the yard of a really spooky ass abandoned house and I just knew I was gonna get shot but i did it anyway (and didn't get shot:P)

I find the same sort of thing, that having committed to the project, it gives me more motivation but also perhaps more importantly a legitimate reason to do things. So if someone questions what you are doing or why you are doing it, there's something concrete to explain to them. Rather than just 'oh I like taking pictures' there's the more valid sounding 'I'm doing a project focusing on the theme of x'

Least it works that way for me.

exactly. I already have in my head, if asked, what i will say. and i have been carrying business cards as well. so instead of looking like some wierdo taking pictures i can say that i am doing a study of the state of Georgia in photos.

The other part of that is that I've found the more people I tell about what I'm trying to do, the more help and suggestions I get. Each time I explain a project idea, someone comes up with a great suggestion or opens a door that helps me move forward. E.g., getting access you wouldn't normally get or introduced to a friend of a friend who can help, that sort of thing. I've been really surprised at the opportunities that keep popping up once you commit to doing something and tell people about it.
