I currently have 3 blogs going--PAD, PAW and a third to put in PAW overflow or whatever else I want to. In my PAW post I mention that there are additional shots and include the link. This way I can share my "extras" and hopefully get some feedback, yet my PAW will only have 52 shots by the end of the year.

My link for alienyst's PAW does not work. I will try to add the new links later, but if there was a total html list with them included it would be easier. Otherwise, the list will not be in order and the new people will be at the end.

I have added you Justin.
I need to know what your theme is.

I'm also doing POW(or PAW), this will be my first. I'm new to this site and relativly new to photography as well. I don't have one specific theme as I'm just trying to experiment with different types of photography. I hope to get some comments so I know what I am doing right or wrong.

Germaine, I have added you to the my list.
I need to know what your theme is going to be, please.

Randy, I have added you to my list.

Welcome to DPC. This project is a themed project and since you are really new to photography I put 'photography basics' as your theme. You have much to learn and if you keep with it, you will learn a lot with this project.

I am going to assume 'Mahalo' means thanks?
Also is it pronounced 'Ma-ha-low'?

Way back when, I had a Pentax Spotmatic with around a 50mm f/1.4 lens and thought I was really hot stuff. Also, I used to roll my own b&w cartridges, sitting on the floor of my closet.

I've become interested in prime lenses again, and just bought a Canon 50mm f/1.4. My idea is to work with that in b&w -- my version of traveling back in time. Of course, being a blonde woman from California, I reserve the right to change theme and direction if the spirit moves me. (But I think the discipline will be good for me 8))

I'm generally not a fan of pop ups on sites but I have put snap on my PAW, can I get some feedback on whether it's helpful or annoying please. Just hover the cursor over the PAW links. Thanking You.

I have been having trouble getting blogger blogs and my own dashboard to load for the last two days. I think google must be having some sort of major issue somewhere.

They do seem pretty quiet today.

I got your comment on my PAW. Figs are exotic from where I am. I scour my local grocery for something unusual all the time. Or something in an unusual shape for that product. Most everything commercially grown are very 'perfect' in shape and thats boring. when gardening season comes back around it will get much more interesting.

I was wanting an onion with tops but that can't be found anywhere. So I figured I would grow my own in the spring. Low and behold, one of my onions sprouted tops! They usually turn black and mushy before growing but this one grew! no roots just living off the bulb. Yesterday, I shot it in a hanging copper ladle. The copper reflected everything in the room a bit to well so I have a sheet with rod pocket sewn in to put onto the front pole to block out the room. It takes some major studio reworking to get it on there. but I will show before and after when I get them done.

Germaine,

Back in time- B&W is an excellent theme! I look forward to seeing your accomplishments. I love history and I love glass, so I collect old bottles! I just picked up a JR Watkins bottle for 2.00. I looked up the company and they are still in business. been around since 1868. 100 years before I was born! That is exciting! I'm going to send a photo to the company and see if they can pinpoint the exact date for it.

Wildcard,
Very interesting option on your PAW. I find it rather annoying because the images aren't really big enough to see. I use my cursor when I read because I'm always interrupted by my children. ;)

Yeppers - you are correct on both accounts (it is the Hawaiian equivalent of "thank you").

Just spent a hour or so going over all of the first week's entries and I have to say that this is an impressive start! And it was a lot of fun, too.

so... i have a question... i've started my paw blog. i'm interested in focusing on black and white photography, but i've also come up with a list of other areas that i'm interested in working on. a list i've been working on includes:

1- Black and white ; 2- Portraits ; 3- Vertical orientation ; 4- Macro ; 5- Still lifes/studio lighting
6- Extended exposure ; 7- Night photography ; 8- Astrophotography ; 9- Action ; 10- Landscapes
11- Architecture ; 12- Abstract ; 13- Junk (abandoned buildings, rusty machines...)

so, i was thinking about a few options...
a- make this blog about general improvement in a variety of areas
b- make this a b+w blog, focus on the other things separate from the blog, and maybe choose one for 2008
c- post a b+w entry every week, with occasional secondary postings working on these other areas (would that be confusing to people, to sometimes have a second posting in the week?)
d- work on these other goals in b+w...

edit: forgot to add 'd'

HELP!

I have my gallery set up at Smugmug, and I cut and pasted everyone's links and they all show up and seem to work. (Here) (She pants in relief and dries sweaty palms.) However, I have one long column of links before you get to the pictures, and that looks pretty awkard to me. Do any of you website wizards know how to make two or three columns so you don't have to scroll down so far to get to the pictures?

If I'm doing this the hard way, tell me. I'll try to learn...

I say do whatever works best for you. This is a project for you to learn from, and hopefully you can share some of that new found knowledge with the rest of us through the process. I think you have a good solution by posting which of your goals it meets within each post. Just as another idea, if you use pixelpost you can categorize each photo, and then sort in the browse area by photo type (which you define). That way you could go in and only see your b/w or astrophotography photos, etc.
