My topic is going to be called "Signs of the Times". It's gonna be fun and there is probably only one person here on DPC who might know what this topic involves.... and that would be skiprow. If he thinks about this, he'll know :)

I've got my gallery set up here.

My theme is Roads, Streets and By-Ways. But it might change...
Obviously, there are no pictures in it yet.

If you do this project, don't 'end' it after 52 weeks. That project of mine is ongoing and will never really end until i quit making photos. I don't do that one on any schedule either.. just whenever I feel like it. it's one of my favorite projects though :)

I di this two years ago when our town had some birthday, 250th maybe. I titled it 365 days in Lincoln. Just had a December show at the Lincoln library and sold almost everything right of the wall for christmas. Moral of the story is 1. there are plenty of photos in your own back yard and 2. Local photos sell waay better that beautiful ones.

An elderly man called me to say "I courted my first girlfriend under those trees on Lexingtion road in 1950, Now we are both widowers an we are getting married next week. I want to give her that photo for a wedding present." It wasn't even in focus but the memories he brought to it were what counted.

If you want to sell photos, THINK LOCAL.

This year I'm thinking of An Edit A Day instead.

This is absolutely true :) My local interest stuff sells best, no matter what I put it beside. I'm planning to make a book out of that stuff at some point with Blurb or one of the other online book publishers.

Please count me in. My site is Zen Week (//zenweek.blogspot.com/index.html).

I will be trying to develop a sense of zen in my photography, and while there are probably many views of what zen photography is, for me it is equated with simplicity, openness, acceptance of things as they are, an emphasis on minimal structure, and natural calm.

(The test photo on the site will be deleted when the project begins in January.)

This sounds great, it would be great if there was a "sticky" for easy checking in on your PAWs.

Maybe what I've been doing with the horse family theme since April 04 will give some folks ideas, 255 home purposeful shoots so far, with the picks each put into a postcard format e-mailed to 70ish recipients, then put up in several web galleries. Just under 500 cards so far. On the 'puter, each assignment's folder has a sequence number and a theme either chosen for that shoot or what the horses suggested by their activity.

Here's the format that I used to be able to do a quick caption and to keep the look/feel somewhat uniform.

I used it in order to improve my skills. Specific subjects included backlighting, rim lighting, dust, profiles, motion blurs, panning, low light, sunsets, insects, high heat, fog, rain, mud, wind, shadows, silhouettes, conflict, weeds, shooting into the sun, and infrared.

Then I decided to do something more bloglike instead, using smuggy's journal format, while still e-mailing cards to the list. These look nicer online.

Well, I have my site somewhat set up. You can find it at //sacker.freehostia.com/photo-a-week/. Please add me to your links, if you are keeping a list, and let me know if I've accidentally left anyone off of mine.

On my page, I listed a few ideas I had (most, if not all have been mentioned in this thread) before I gave up and decided to just work b&w photos without any other connecting elements. My list:

* Textures
* Shadows
* Reflections
* Buildings
* Patterns
* Stock

I think my count of links for this project is up to 19... not bad :)

Do you think a theme within a theme might jack it up a notch? Say, a different flower a week but focus on something like reflection, shadows, or color? I am in the process of making a list... my blog will go up with the links in place to save some time...

You have a nice list of b&w elements btw!

Here's my actual url for my blog, and I have a topic there...

Has anyone compiled a list of all of us yet... might be nice to have it once we start.

Ok, I have my theme:

New York's Seaway Trail
Vol. 1: Ripley to Rochester

I've wanted to do this for some time, although I wanted to cover the entire length from northeastern PA through to NYC. In order to make it every week I'll need to limit the range a bit, but this lets me look forward to Vol. 2: Lake Onterio and the Thousand Islands, and Vol. 3: The Hudson Valley!

I think this will take at least 52 photos do do the subject justice, so forget what I said earlier about changing themes.

Here's the Seaway Trail website. Am I getting in over my head?

I'm looking forward to getting started on this project. I picked up a few of the 'props' I need for this while I was out today :)

I did not complete my 2006 PAD. I got lost with it sometime in the summer with a big fat grouchy space of time involving my brother's wedding and blah.

I definitely learned that inspiration is far far away and that I am not really learning anything from it and that it didn't really help my photography skills. I am not sure why. Maybe the one or two times someone left a comment I just didn't listen to it; or maybe there wasn't enough feedback for me to learn anything from.

I also learned that it is very time consuming. Five minutes to load a raw image .. ughh. It was very disheartening and I gave up on raw. But I have a new computer now and maybe a little more hope for that format right now than I did a few months ago.

I would definitely be interested in a photo-a-week themed yearly thing. Besides the one at DPC. I'd also like to keep up with the regular PAD too. SOmeone keep me on the list of people who want in.

Speaking of lists, is there an updated PAD 2007 list yet? I see there is a partial one below, but has anyone compiled one like last year where you can just cut and past it into your blog links area??

Mine is at //dreamingplace.ca it defaults to the PAD page. I'll have to make a new archive list and such for the new year too ... hmmm .... who wants to keep track of my to-do list for me ? ... lol

Thanks, I'll have a look. I want to take part in this, but so far I've been unable to come up with a decent idea.

Thanks for sharing your list... I added everyone to my page. Your link for Ursula isn't working though, I think you just need to change the paw to upper case. Here is a working link:
