How's the purpose part of this going for y'all ?

Okay, I'm not quite understanding. This is my first Photo Every Week/Day/Minute project. Do we have a theme to follow to tie us together or is it up to us?

I tried to find the theme reading all the posts, but I couldn't find it.

The idea, at least in this thread, is for you to pick a theme, to provide some sort of frame to hang your 52 pictures on that you take through the year. The goal would be that this might produce a somewhat cohesive set of images, rather than the disjointed and random stream that a PaD often produces. Some crazy souls do manage to produce 365 images on the same theme but the weekly goal was picked as maybe a more manageable goal.

So the theme is up to you. It could still be 'random stuff that I took pictures of' if you like, but the original idea is to try and work to move beyond jumping from theme to theme on a weekly basis, as is encouraged, by say, a weekly challenge with a new topic. A whole year on one idea might force you to probe it a bit more deeply, go beyond your first cliched ideas and maybe make you bang your head against it in frustration. With the hope that then you might have some breakthroughs, rather than breakdowns and do something interesting.

Least that's what I'm hoping to do.

I knew I should have posted earlier... Now I look like I'm following karmat. My plan was to work on black and white photography for my photo-a-week effort. I was trying to iron out the design of my project site, but now I feel inclined to post before I get it all finished.

My quick thoughts on a theme can be found here, which includes a link to the actual photo blog.

blog added to my page...

Theme seems to be up to you as an individual. Whatever makes sense or has a purpose or works for you.

I have one idea in the bag so far, but I'm still brainstorming.

This is an exciting idea. I have a blog site that I haven't used much, and I have a theme. Food and Beverage. I might even post a recipe once in a while to go with it. Now to go set up the site...

Okay. I got an idea. Square. That'll be my theme. Not too hard, but challenging. Not only a square framing, but maybe even a square subject. I'm playing with medium 6x6 format and it would be fun to look at things in that form.

I haven't gotten my Site yet. But, I have picked my theme, "Slice of Life" It will include:
All about things,
Things I love
Things I wear
Things I use
Things I eat
Everyday things
All about places
Places I love
Places I go
Long Ago Places
Places I travel
Everyday places
and All about time
Favorite times
Day-to-day time
Times past
Celebration time
Ordinary momements.

Some areas may grow into photo stories, but I'll be working on creating a sense of my life and culture over the next year. (The idea comes from a magazine.)

Ok, I got a new blog set up for this year. Still debating on a theme (or themes), but I'll be at Photo A Week - 2007
12/21/2006 03:07:01 PM · #94
Should we limit this to one photo a week, or can there be more (sticking with the theme, of course!)

i would definetely limit to 1 per week, for simplicity sake, and i also don't have idea for the theme but i have 10 days to think about it

:)

Personally, I think I may end up going with more than one theme since there are a few themes I'd like to explore. If I have a few shots within a week, I think I'll post all of them. My goal will be to have at least one per week.

ok i am managing to link everyone but if you have a look they are all over the show.. meaning, far apart and separate from the first one i did

I guess I'm going all out this (next) year! In addition to a PAD, I'll start a themed PAW at //nickp37paw2007.blogspot.com/

I'm going to vary the theme a little over the corse of the year though. I'll change it up every three months.

Not at all!! I wish I had your skills! I merely meant that my PAW plan looks less original now. With that, I plan to blend back into the woodwork here :)
