I first suppose Iceland was a fantastic place to take photos... and that's right of course but... but...
What about the moltitude of Iceland's photographer? It's not just here, in every photography's community there are a lot of them, and that could be also "normal" cause they have wonderful places but how it could be that they are all at a stunning technical level?

There are bigger nations with a lot of good nature photo shooters but there's no comparison to how many masterpieces come from icelander photographers... Do they come all from the same school? Are they a big family?

I think it has something to do with eating rotten shark meat.

Well, what can I say. We are just a little bit crazy. I think this has a lot to do with the fact that we have a very inspiring scenery so we try to get better at photographing it.

We also have a very active community and people are very willing to share tricks and tips and just general information about photography. I have for instace learnt a lot from my friend Larus.

And last but not least, we are fanatic about technology and are very willing to buy expensive camera equipment, there is a very big percentage of Icelandic amateur photographers using DSLRs.

There is also the fact that we are just around 300 thousand and to compete with larger nations we often have to step up and deliver. We just will not accept that we are outnumbered ;)

I am by no means an expert but this is my take on it. Oh, and did I meantion that we are crazy.

well my post was a kind of compliment cause I know you are a small community... and to have such level in photography is great...

you know what happens here in italy with communities? anyone suppose to know the best and noone learn from experienced people...

the sense of being a part of a group is not so strong (and I live in the small island called sardinia)...

anyway your way to speak with images is my target... always said I had to be born there :)

It's just survival of the fittest, we have nothing else to be good at so we just need to stand out in this area :) ( that is Larus and arnit need to stand out in this area for us)
