What a great idea, re the new white screen, that "POPS" up, when voting below a 4, saying "it would be good to leave a comment if voting a 1 - 2 or 3.

This is an excellent idea, and thanks to our administrators once again.....

I love to suggest that you take this another step higher, so that one can't vote at this level, re the 1's 2's & 3's votes at all, unless they "DO" leave a comment.

This may then cut out or reduce all those "TROLL" votes we seem to be getting.....

Ok, when you are now voting for the first time in a new challenge, I have just noticed that the very first time that you vote, say a 3, one will then notice a white screen comes up saying, "that it would be appriciated if you take the time to comment, if voting with a 1 - 2 or 3 score.
I have also noticed it seems to only happens once, during that period of voting.
It took me by surprise, as I do try not to go below a 4 vote, if I can help it, re challenges, as I very rarely go below a 4.

One step closer to 4 being the new 'troll' vote. :(

The only problem I see is that the screen pops up when you are on the next image. You would have to go back to find the image you just voted on to comment. For me, it would work better if you stayed on the same image. Would also mean more people would comment...

One will never stamp out the dreaded troll votes, but surely this may curb a few of them hopefully.
I also think that if one does vote low on someones image, one should give a reason to why, just so the person can learn and grow as a photographer.

Whilst I can see the idea behind this, I'm not sure it's going to stop 'troll votes' because I suspect your average troll either won't comment anyway or will just vote a lot of 4s instead of their usual 1-3s. All this will acheive is that the average score for every photograph will be increased slightly. The pics that finish last will still finish last and the winners will still be winners. The scores in challenges are really irrelevent.

I was a bit surprised. I rarely vote below a 4, but sorry folks, the "year you were born" and "perspective" got some of those from me.

I rarely comment on the lower scoring ones because many times my thought is "delete it and I can't think of anything to make it better." LOL Just call me a troll.

(I'm now going to run and hide from the tomatoes that are being hurled toward my head)

I think it is sometimes difficult to comment on photos that simply need to be retaken in order to have much technical or artistic merit, if any. (I suspect I've taken some of these photos myself!)

However, I think it is great that the pop-up screen appears, as it may make someone who consistently votes low think before just hitting that 1, 2 or 3.
