Jemison, your entries have always been superb and this one is no exception. DPC voters tend to vote on the subject more than composition or technical quality. Your relatively obscure subject doomed this entry.
I would like to see a vote tally on each challenge that consisted of only the votes by a team of recognized excellent photographers participating on this site. A team of perhaps 10 whose vote is included in the normal tally but also extracted and presented separately. This would be a valuable aid for all the DPC community, to develop their skills in evaluating photographs. This could be done informally in the forums, just needs someone to organize the selected team.

could be more interesting if the SC select a team of good photographers and the medium rating of the team should showed in the final statistics for every photograph. Can be interesting if the team components don't know that their are in the evaluating team.

Here are some interesting threads regarding that idea:

Personally, I'd rather be able to view an overall score from a group of photographers that I'd personally selected, rather than from a group the SC or site majority deemed worthy because I don't necessarily share the same opinions. But I never enter either and this is probably all best reserved for another thread. :)

I'm a little late to the reply party but i thought it was a great shot. Spotted straight away that it was a fencing mask. Great lighting, nice effect. This is why i gave it a 9.

More please.

How would you determine "good"? There is DPC good, and elsewhere "good". That doesn't mean the the DPC people are not good photographers, but they have a style that plays especially well here. I'm not sure that I would put any value other than one of curiosity on said team's opinion of images that may not fit the "DPC Style".

Oh, and in case anyone thinks I am ripping DPC in any way, that is NOT my intention. It just is what it is.

Would be pretty easy to implement with a default list being one's favorite photographer lists.
