Tim, did you buy this printer? Two years later it still seems to sell well. I am considering it or the 9500 but I am still looking around. Would be interested to hear your experience with this printer if you had bought it.

I have the 8500 and have no complaints about it. The first picture for the day takes a while to start - it will go through an alignment/cleaning process to start with, but after that it prints very fast and very high quality prints

Everyone I've ever talked to says go with an Epson...

Actually I went with the 9000, mostly on how the printer would be used, and the price. The 9000's are very inexpensive right now with the rebate. I got mine for about $350. My second choice would have been the Epson R1900 but at $225 more I opted out. Same with the Canon 9500, with the $150 rebate they compete with the R1900.

I'll print mostly for myself and friends. Anything I would sell I would send out regardless of what printer I bought. I have been very happy with everything I have printed so far.

I had an Epson large format printer and replaced it with the Pixma pro 9000. I am very happy with it.

I also had an Epson and switched to the Canon. I must say that it is a very good printer

My reason for switching was advances in ink technology making my older Epson obsolete. It did work fine for me, though this one does a much better job with B/W. I understand the newer Epsons are way better at that also, so...

I have the Epson R1800 (predecessor to the R1900) and it does very well with B/W. No colour cast.

Epson used to have a bad rep for clogged nozzles. I haven't noticed any problem even after no use for 3 weeks. The auto nozzle check/clean works like a charm.

I have the Pro9000. I got it free with the 5D.

I like it a lot. Beware though, if you print a lot of B&W images, it is SLOW!! If that is the case, I'd go with the Pro9500.

Have any of you experienced any problems with the Canon Pro9000 running green prints when photo paper (any of them) are selected.

I have had this printer both at home and at the office several years now and twice without any appearant reason when I go to print something with all the default settings selected when I select the paper type (anything other then plain paper) everything prints green.

Has anyone else run into this problem?

.. bringing this back

I am in the market to buy a printer and Canon Pro 9000 Mark II is selling cheaper (less than $300) currently. I would like to know the user experience with the Pro 9000 or the Pro 9000 Mark II

thanks,
Gaurawa
