Not within the rules I believe.
Sorry, as it's an excellent image.

I'm sure there are large cranes there too now, the new Scottish Parliament is being built, can't see them in the picture... Could be my eyesight though...

He has even admitted in the description that there are 3 photos stitched together. I guess he didn't read the rules.

What a pity, it is a good photo.

Bobster, if you had your doubts at the time of voting why didn't you either request a DQ then or not vote on it?

I only got one of those blue shirts on Bob. Purple doesn't suit me :-)

The site council are already aware of this image, and are currently discussing its legality and the appropriate action(s) to take. I'll let you know what we decide...

Oh yeah, don't forget to raise a DQ request if you are unsure as to whether a shot is legal or not!

I think it is more appropriate for DQ discussions to be private--between a voter and the Admins. However, we did learn that it is illegal, perhaps, to stich photos together.

I thought I had...
I may have given the photo the benefit of the doubt though, as I do assume that most people read the rules.

So no stiching?
10/15/2003 10:02:52 AM · #13
no as it has to be a single image !

I made a comment that said that he should have not stated the word Panorama as ppl may want it DQ'd ... Infact it has a description as stated above that it is 3 shots sticthed together ! Perhaps it is a nightmare for the admins to remove his 21st place of the comp now as it is after voting is finished ?

Like stated above you should have read the rules but ... None the less it is a great picture just not one that fits into the site rules.

I would like to see it taken out of the comp just for fairness but is it too late now ?

Since it has previously been discussed that perspective correction (Edit > Transform > Perspective in Photoshop) cannot be used, then stitching seems like it would be illegal, since one of the things the stiching software inherently does is correct any perspective differences between the stitched shots.

Disqualification requests should be submitted during the voting period whenever possible but will be accepted up to seven days after the results of the challenge to which the photo was entered are posted.

I have just read the rules and cannot actually see the bit i thought i had read but if this is the case there is still time to appeal against what you think is an illegal entry !
