Having just spent the whole morning shooting a full 2gb card (at the Morton Arboretum near Chicago) I came home to download them. Had a problem with my computer - needed to reboot, forgot to disconnect the card reader and for some reason ended up wiping the whole card. I now have precisely NO photos from my morning. I had some really wonderful pictures too.....

I'm not normally so careless. Very angry with myself right now.

That sucks. Was the arboretum well colored?

don't use the card yet!!!!

Unless it's been formatted you may be able to extract the files with something like image rescue!

that is a bummmer. did you check your hard drive and make sure they didn't transfer before you rebooted?

Yes, I did.... Unfortunately nothing. I put the card back in the camera and it said no images....

Thanks everyone - I hope I can do something...

or, you could send it to me. I'll do the recovery for ya, but you gotta pay shipping.

try Zero Assumption.

I use it whenever a card has a bit of a fit, and it pulls back stuff from cards that have been re-formatted over and over again - stuff from months ago.

To all of you who so kindly helped with suggestions...

I did it! Bear_Music's suggestion worked. I am pleased to say I can now enter this week's challenge! (Whether it will be worth it, as I'll probably get another sub 5 score, remains to be seen!)

Anyway, thank you everybody - this is a great place. You are all so very helpful.

Now another question....

Having recovered my "lost" files, will the EXIF data be corrupt? in which case, if I enter a challenge would I get DQ'd? I suppose there is that possibility.....

If you got the file back, it *should* be fine, I would think.

you should be able to check the data prior to submitting. If it all checks out you are good to go.
10/29/2006 07:51:23 PM · #17
And if it's not? Then I presume I'm not able to enter..... The programme is doing it's stuff right now, so let's see.

You don't know how happy I am. Now, if the EXIF data is still in tact then I'll be even happier.

Again, thanks everybody!

This was one of the reason's I was SOoooo upset about losing everything. Thank goodness I shoot RAW plus JPEG. I think if I shot RAW only I wouldn't be jumping for joy!
